and maybe Walker? Just can't score, even in a hitters park.

Absolutely correct. And hitting Herrera in the 3 hole isn't helping. Need him back at 5, pushing everybody down 1. Lineup too top heavy now.

There's only so many holes you can plug with the talent on hand.

Club doesn't have a legit three or four hitter for that matter.

Donovan when healthy should lead off..after that?

You are so right! I think, in a couple years, Bloom will have constructed a roster/lineup that is less balanced than this one is. We will have a couple athletic thumpers. Players will fit in where they are the most productive, not where we need them the most. Mo has been really bad at that.

Our leadoff hitter is in a 1 for 32 funk and really it stretches longer than that. Our #2 hitter had a .260 OBP/.531 OPS in June coming into today and went 0 for 4. Herrera isn’t having a very good June either (.723 OPS coming into today), but he’s not been terrible. Hopefully when Donovan gets back he hits in one of the top 2 places in the lineup. I don’t mind Herrera hitting 3rd with Contreras 4th.

Why laugh? He was replaced for nearly a week by a total zero - Vilade. That's where the losing started.

This is the result of the POBO being the smartest man in baseball, Mo should have been fired when he signed Dexter Fowler.

Agreed. When you plug guys into roster holes despite them being unprepared and ill-equipped, you get what we have now--a short lineup with little power and streaky hitters being relied upon to produce every day. There is no room for slumps or injuries in this lineup.

Delete the words "without Donovan" and you have a proper thread title. Behind the BrewCrew, and only 1 game in front of the Reds. They should be thankful to be in the same division as the Buccos.

It seems as if every player can hit or field not both, Mo signs Contreras and then finds out he is not a good catcher, gives huge extensions before he has too. This organization is in awful shape

How many IBBs are issued to this lineup? How many "dangerous" hitters do we have? Can we win through injuries and slumps? Can we win through adverse conditions?

Yeah, I was thinking just last night that if Mozeliak had never signed DF eight years ago that the Cardinals would have avoided their current level of mediocrity. Cause and effect is a bidch.
