Right now anyway the Jets have a matzo ball sized problem on their hands.

Speaking of a team that could use Hofer to have an actual tandem rather than burning Helly for 800 games during the season.

I don't think that has anything to do with it, his style just doesn't hold up to being picked apart IMO.

He now has three Vezina's and a Hart. You have to assume that he will be a Hall of Famer because of his stellar regular seasons, but man his playoffs stink so bad he probably shouldn't get in.

I wouldn't be laughing...the worst current day playoff goaltender didn't go home after one round this time...

Nah. Any goalie who tells me he studies goaltending more than anyone else on the planet better be able to also show me a cup or two, otherwise…yeah, I’m laughing.

True. However it wasn't because of him.

Helle sure did everything he could to hand that series to the Blues. In the end his skaters just refused let him complete the collapse. They didn't win the President's Trophy for nothing.

It took a perfect storm for him and his team to advance.

Have that exact scenario take place 100 times, Winnipeg likely fails 98.

The Hart and the Vezina. I get how the voting works but what a complete travesty, just totally nuts.

Hellebuyck deserves credit for shouldering his heavy workload and maintaining consistency during the regular season. Really, I'm not convinced he's the Hart of his own team, I believe he was the beneficiary of a very capable defensive minded team in front of him.

During the regular season teams cross paths for primarily single game engagements. Teams and players are far less likely to adjust their styles for specific opponents, they tend to breeze into town, play their game, and rush on to the next city. In the case of Winnipeg "breezing into town" might not reflect the true mood of most opposing teams, particularly Eastern and West Coast teams. As we saw in the playoffs a team in a playoff series will find the weaknesses in Hellebuyck's style of play and make adjustments to exploit them. Which means he simply isn't as good as his regular season stats belie. Trust the eye-test.

You seem to overlook the fact we ALL watched the games! Seems to me the Blues overcame some big storms, particularly an infamous hand-pass non call.

By game 6 San Jose was so beaten up they could barely ice a team, much less have us "weather a storm"

The Blues had their chances. When you've knocked out the opposition's top center and their #1 defenseman - and they're skating with 5 for a majority of the game - take every opportunity to run their D and make their lives miserable. One of the fastest players in the league had multiple chances to body the Jets D but didn't want to crinkle his knickers. Fly by after fly by ...
