Kreider traded to Ducks by Rangers for prospect Terrance, 4th-round pick

Chris Kreider was traded to the Anaheim Ducks by the New York Rangers on Thursday.

The Rangers received forward prospect Carey Terrance and a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.

The Rangers will not retain any of Kreider's salary; he has two seasons remaining on a contract that carries a $6.5 million average annual value.

The trade gives New York NHL salary cap flexibility needed to pursue free agents or present potential offer sheets to restricted free agents.

How does the Rangers dumping Kreider relate to the Rangers then moving a player like Trocheck?

They will use that cap space to try to improve their team and Trocheck is a guy I would think they would want to keep.

We’d have to give up way more than a 1st for Trocheck. But yes, I’d at least inquire…but just don’t see him as available.
