He would end us hurting the team but bringing him in against certain profiled pitchers and limiting his PAs is the best thing they can do for him.

This way if they decide to move on his stock has rallied and they should be able to get something solid back. If not oh well he’s a part time power bat capable of doing damage and helping this team.
Convenient and unfalsifiable position.

I have just as much proof that if Oli would have given him more starts sooner that he would have already been hitting homeruns. Instead he was given 6 starts in almost 4 weeks from May 8th to June 2nd. And all that while getting at least 1 hit in 13 of the 14 games started since May 5th.
No you don’t. You don’t have chit but the old ball game in front of you. He simply isn’t effective certain pitching profiles. You can look this up it’s not hard. He’s a situation hitter who can put a charge into the ball. But that’s highly contingent on the pitcher he is facing.
Read closer: I have as much proof for my position as you do for yours. So if I have none...
He’s been successful in his limited role making big impacts relative to his PA. I have proof. For a “bench” bat and part time players he’s done well.

I don’t think many would disagree.
That's not how logic works: "because he did it in this one circumstance means he would not have done it better in another circumstance."

Whether you understand it or not, that's what you're saying. You have no counterfactual and therefore no proof. I have exactly as much proof as you do for my own position, here's my logic: "Because he's doing well in limited PAs he would have done even better with more PAs."

Go ahead, disprove my argument. Whoops you can't, guess I'm right! (See how silly that sounds?)
What’s silly is assuming you have enough data points to derive any kind conclusion. You don’t you watch games….. that’s your data pure qualitative garbage. Line up the strategy with his IoT’s. If you do so it makes a lot of sense.

The facts are in. He’s performing well. That can be disputed but you would look like a fool, (relative to his role).

With Donny's toe issue Norman might get 10 games in a row if Donny hits the IL.
Can Vilade play 2B? Oli may try to get him in the lineup.
As a matter of fact, he can.

For the season Gorman’s OPS+ is now above 100 at 102. He’s hitting .230/.322/.402. Still not great, but much better and the OPS is better than Arenado’s right now.

Since May 1st Gorman is hitting: .261/.342/.449 in 79 PAs. He’s trending up. :D :D

Gorman's OPS+ is 2% above average. Wow. That illustrates the advantage pitching still has over hitting.

I think it’s cool he’s getting more PT. It’s time for him to shine.

Whoever thought after over 150-some odd years of history of the sport that creating more contact with a baseball would mean more hits?

What a revelation.
Well done. You left out - If he can find a spot on the field or as secondary or tertiary DH behind Herrera and maybe Bison. None of the three help the defense and only Herrera has decent speed.

As injuries occur, he'll continue to get more and more PT.
If his back doesn’t betray him
If he stops stepping in the bucket
If he finds a way to hit high fast balls
If he gets more regular at bats
Then yes
I agree. And you left out – if you can find a spot in the batting order because he’s not good defensively and he may be second or third choice at DH Herrera has to be first and maybe the Bison second choice as Oli loves the latter. Only Herrera has decent speed.

Well for the month:

65 PA
.286 avg
.385 OBP
.607 SLG
3 2B
5 HR
12 RBI
0.8 fWAR

If his average stands for the last 6 games of the month it will be his highest average for a “full” month of his MLB career. He had a .387 avg for 36 PA his first month of his rookie year.

His underlying stats have looked so much better this season and the results are paying off.

That ball he hit last night was a shot.

If NG and JW both could produce, then this team starts to look like a contender

I kind of forgotten about JW until I read this. Imagine if was even 75% of what he was billed as.

I really hope that Gorman has turned a corner and can be consistent. His power ceiling is insane high, but many limiting factors that he has to work out.

Oh yeah, big IF. JW has very little trade value right now, so he is on the team. Let's hope he somehow figures it out. He may be in AAA soon if he doesn't.

He's slightly better than Patrick Wisdom, if you like that kind of player. He may ultimately find his greatest success in the Korean league where Wisdom is doing pretty well.
