Really liked Joe Crede with the Sox. Some people say there's no such thing as clutch. Your stats and percentages completely determine the outcome of your at bats (and defensive performance for that matter). But it always seemed to me that Crede was at his best when the chips were down. Another interesting tidbit to me was that he was responsible for the White Sox adopting "Don't stop believing" as there anthem in their world championship season of '05. Apparently, he, Pierzinski, Aaron Rowand, Paulie Konerko and a few of the other idiots were at some bar where they were playing rap or some other genre that the fellas didn't care for. And Joe yells out "Play some [fork]ing Journey!" Theme song was born.
Last time I saw him he was back for an anniversary series when the Sox were playing Houston. He looked huge. Hope he's enjoying his retirement and taking care of his health. I'll bet Mark Buerhle is. Would have loved to see Buerhle finish his carrer with the Redbirds.

Joe hit plenty of clutch game winners in basketball and baseball ( when teams were dumb enough to pitch to him ) but we had college level hitters hitting behind him.

Last x I visited him he was in good shape/health and enjoying life.

Hi Ace! Thanks for sharing, and for posting. Glad to hear that he looks great. I hope he knows how much he was appreciated by Sox fans. Next time you see him ask him to tell you the "Journey" story. I know he tells it better than I do.

I will. He called me the night his statue was unveiled. He was very appreciative.
