Contreras at 1B
I knew there would be some growing pains with him at 1B and he's been decent. But someone please show him how to stretch correctly and stop coming off the base early. He seems to stretch in a nonlinear way from the throw too often and jumps or comes off the base too easily.

83rd percentile in fielding run value and 92nd percentile in outs above average.brock118 wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 20:31 pm I knew there would be some growing pains with him at 1B and he's been decent. Probably shouldn’t be complaining about the defense, he’s really good over there.

Those are things that don't show up in those stats. An Old Friend wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 20:34 pm83rd percentile in fielding run value and 92nd percentile in outs above average.brock118 wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 20:31 pm I knew there would be some growing pains with him at 1B and he's been decent. Watch when he stretches for throws more closely.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 20:39 pmYou are a dumb (donkey)brock118 wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 20:31 pm I knew there would be some growing pains with him at 1B and he's been decent. Picking nits. The stats already shared show that whatever problems he may have with the way he stretches pulling him off the bag they have not come back to bite him to this point. He’s been excellent.brock118 wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 20:40 pmWatch when he stretches for throws more closely.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 20:39 pmYou are a dumb (donkey)brock118 wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 20:31 pm I knew there would be some growing pains with him at 1B and he's been decent. I'm not saying he hasn't been doing good with fielding and throwing...just that aspect of his game needs improvement. Am I picking bits...maybe. but opposing announcers have noticed the same thing.JohnnyMO wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 20:57 pmPicking nits. Re: Contreras at 1B
Outs above average measures the players range mostly. Not how he digs balls out or stretches correctly. But you already knew that.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 21:11 pm3rd in all of MLB, for 1b, in outs above average.brock118 wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 20:40 pmWatch when he stretches for throws more closely.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 20:39 pmYou are a dumb (donkey)brock118 wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 20:31 pm I knew there would be some growing pains with him at 1B and he's been decent. Re: Contreras at 1B
Defensive runs saved and fielding percentage would account for mistakes made due to poor stretches, yes?brock118 wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 21:36 pmOuts above average measures the players range mostly. I already said opposing announcers have said the same thing. Go back and rewatch every game by opposing announcers and you will hear it. I know you must have the time.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 21:48 pmThen show your facts.
