Thoughts? Is he an NHL d-man??
I haven’t heard much about him lately anyone got any info on how he is doing?

Please and thank you.

He had a bit of a throw away year. Injured for big chunks of it and not overly productive when he was healthy.

His coach(Jay McKee) raved about him, for whatever that’s worth; but he just wasn’t on the ice enough to get a good read on him.

Not writing him off yet; but he needs a really good off season and he desperately needs to stay healthy next year to maintain his status as a prospect. He could end up as trade fodder if that doesn’t happen.

From what I've read, he needs to add weight and muscle. He's nothing more than a prospect. Too early to tell where he fits in the pecking order. I would say he needs two healthy AHL seasons before he gets a shot with the Blues.

Disappointing news. We can't afford 1st round flops.

First, this isn't news. Second, if you read the reports on his play it's acknowledged he has talent. He's still a teenager, he turns 19 June 28. Lots and lots of runway left before he would be declared a flop.

I wouldn't rate any prospect a flop until they're at least 22. Give the kids time to develop because it's not always linear and some just have setbacks due to injury.

Imo

Love the kid but long shot to ever be a player for us.

His frame is too slight and injury-prone.

Anyone can see it—except the GM that everyone raves about.

Brantford coach Jay McKee said earlier this season that Jiricek is the real deal.

Article content
“He’s had frustrations . . . as a player you want to play,” McKee said “For him to be off that long and then get an injury right away, it’s frustrating.

“He’s an incredible hockey player. He has an incredible future ahead of him.”

At the WJHC, Jiricek recorded five assists in seven games to lead all Czechia defencemen in scoring.

“This year I enjoyed it a lot,” he said.

“After one year without hockey, the Czech team is an amazing group. I’m always going to remember it.”

Little too early to judge he needs to have a good OHL season next year at 19, dominate then AHL following year and we will have a better grasp

It's bewildering how posters will trash the Blues for "giving up" on Dunn, Walman, Mikkola, and others yet they and/or others will declare a #10 overall pick a bust at age 18.

Geez, the kid was just drafted. Give him a few years to develop before writing him off. He probably needs 2 to 3 more years of development before we can see what he is.

Bout sums it up right. Smellie at it again. To bad he'll never understand nor will he quit. Don't know why he bothers bugging us as he's not a Blues fan. Guess he's after attention only.

The guy has injury issues, his brother has injury issues. It's hard to look past that. There's a trend there that doesn't go away.
