Klingberg
I know he isn't very good defensively, and I'm not advocating that the Blues sign him. I do notice that he put up pretty good numbers and was a plus player the one year Montgomery was his coach in Dallas. I wonder if they had a positive or negative relationship. None of us know. Monty may love the guy or he may be glad he doesn't have to deal with him. Just noticed they did cross paths. He is a right shot D that would let you play Tucker on the left side and maybe help the PP. Maybe they could get him on the cheap with a one year prove it contract and trade Leddy. That would open up a few more $$. Hey, trade Leddy for ROR and you are set.

He would be at best our 3rd rd. Anything more than a 1.5 and he's out of our price range.leedog68 wrote: ↑07 Jun 2025 13:23 pm I know he isn't very good defensively, and I'm not advocating that the Blues sign him. Why on earth would the Preds trade ROR for Leddy?leedog68 wrote: ↑07 Jun 2025 13:23 pm I know he isn't very good defensively, and I'm not advocating that the Blues sign him. Re: Klingberg
I just threw the ROR out there more as a joke, but reports are the Preds do want to move on from ROR. Even if you traded Leddy somewhere else for futures and did something else to acquire ROR you are in essence trading cap dollars for each other.
Re: Klingberg
Why on earth would you want to acquire ROR? He did a fantastic job for the Blues while playing for Nashville!
Re: Klingberg
ROR is exactly what this team needs. For 4.5 mil per for 2 years you get a 200' (see what I did there?) 3C that wins faceoffs and can help on both special teams. Low cap hit and short term. Oh I get it, let's go 9 x 7 for Bennet, right?
Re: Klingberg
No. Let's find someone who can keep up with the young players on wing. I saw ROR a few times last season and I wasn't impressed, this is not 2018-19. He's still Schenn on the scoreboard but I question his heart and speed (I don't question Schenn's heart). Come here to play 3rd line center? Really? Sit in the box and watch Dvorsky play? Really?
I just didn't see him doing much that makes the Blues better, harder to play against. Schenn IMHO is the better 2C. Moving him down two lines might get him away from matchups he's losing but it puts him in Adam Lowry territory. The 3rd line center needs to be a warrior. Maybe last season was an aberration, but what I saw was a player in serious decline.
Re: Klingberg
He had 21 g and 32 A on a bad team. Yeah he's not what he used to be. We wouldn't be asking him to be a 1C or even a 2C. What are you expecting for someone you want to plug in at 3C? We had Sunny's 6/14 in that slot for focks sake. Oh yeah speed is everything. Man that 99 guy had blazing speed. Again, it is only a 2 year commitment. What is your plan, genius?

Re: Klingberg
I loke your thought 3c with two young studs on his wing would be great good idea
Re: Klingberg
Sunny is awful, but that’s pretty pricey for a 3Cleedog68 wrote: ↑07 Jun 2025 15:11 pm He had 21 g and 32 A on a bad team. Yeah he's not what he used to be. We were paying Bozak 5M a year to be the 3C when we won the Cup… with a cap of 79.5M. Yes that was a lot, but it also helped put us over the top to have a borderline 2C playing on the third line.netboy65 wrote: ↑07 Jun 2025 18:18 pmSunny is awful, but that’s pretty pricey for a 3Cleedog68 wrote: ↑07 Jun 2025 15:11 pm He had 21 g and 32 A on a bad team. ROR at 4.5M with today’s 95.5M cap would not be outlandish at all.
Re: Klingberg
We didn’t sign Bozak to be the 3C though remember? We signed him earlier in the day when we thought there was no ROR deal. It just happened to work out that way. We have to give raises to the guys that are coming due, Neighbours, Hofer, Broberg, Holloway. The cap is going up but we still can’t be spending all willy-nillybluetunehead wrote: ↑07 Jun 2025 19:19 pmWe were paying Bozak 5M a year to be the 3C when we won the Cup… with a cap of 79.5M. Re: Klingberg
That's exactly why ROR for 2 years at 4.5 is a good plan. He will help now and be off the books before lots of those raises will be needed. I think we have enough coming off the books next summer to pay for Holloway and Broberg.
Re: Klingberg
You question ROR’s heart? He’s never had speed but if you can legit say you question his heart, I question your ability to judge a hockey playerDawgDad wrote: ↑07 Jun 2025 14:49 pmNo. Let's find someone who can keep up with the young players on wing. Re: Klingberg
I think ROR would jump at the chance to come back to play for Monty.

Re: Klingberg
Yeah I remember but the point was we still made it work, and that 4.5M now with a significantly higher cap is not crazy money for a good 3C. Anybody we go after as a stopgap middle 6 center until Dvorsky is ready is going to be in that range and possibly even higher.netboy65 wrote: ↑07 Jun 2025 20:47 pmWe didn’t sign Bozak to be the 3C though remember?
