Your Favorite Donuts

Post by Pink Freud »

I visited St. Louis for 4 days last week, and rediscovered my love for light, airy sugared and glazed donuts at Donut Drive-In at Watson Road @ Chippewa, which was there even in my childhood. I wish we had those where I live, but Dunkin' is just everywhere, and they're OK, but they don't even sell a yeast-raised sugar donut. Imagine a Krispy Kreme as a sugared donut, unglazed, and you get the idea of my ideal. Outlaw Donuts in NoAZ comes close to perfection.

When I lived in SoCal there was a different Asian family-owned donut shop in every strip mall and on every major intersection, thanks in large part to "The Donut King": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLKugGKgJsQ

What...and where...are YOUR favorite donuts?

The best donuts in St. Louis can be found at the Donut Palace in Ellisville and Sunset Hills.

Old Town Donuts in Florissant are my all-time favorite, but Sweet Spot in St. Ann is a close second. Schnuck's also makes surprisingly good donuts in-house.

Rise ‘n Roll Bakery is an Amish bakery just south of Indianapolis. Their doughnuts are oversized. This place should be shut down by the healthly code police.
