Winn’s value
They mentioned it on the broadcast, and I agree completely. He took hits off the board last night with his arm. Including that double play with Ohtani running. I didn’t think there was any chance that he could throw him out. There were two or three players that I don’t think another shortstop makes, with his arm.

To play SS like he does AND have a .766 OPS...well, that's special. And he's only 23!

Re: Winn’s value
Good points ! The box score doesn’t show the impact he has on games. Always think back to his draft year when a scout wrote this comment about Winn in his report…. Some guys have a cannon fir an arm..Winn has a howitzer !
That scout nailed it.
That scout nailed it.

Nice to have a former C at 1B to receive those high velo throws.

Re: Winn’s value
If he hit .250 and batted 9th he would still have huge value. Ozzie had huge value and he really wasn't much of a hitter until later in his career. Guys who play SS like that are rare. Sure, I would trade him for Witt Jr., but not many others.... I have said from the beginning, I just love to watch that kid play D and he has learned to be under FAR better control since he came up. No, he will not turn into a 30 homer kind of SS and he doesn't have to. Just keep doing what he is doing. He makes one or two plays a game that almost no one else can with that arm. Often it is the DP pivot. You think no way the get a DP here and boom......by an eyelash..... that to me is as beautiful as any other part of the game.
Re: Winn’s value
Yes his arm is such a valuable asset. He makes outs happen that maybe only one or two other SS’s in baseball can make.
