The N.L. playoff race is tightening up

Post by ramfandan »

6 teams qualify for the NL Playoffs ..
Due to uneven number of games played thus far, I am looking at the LOSS side of the column (the more important side )

There are currently 7 teams with less than 30 losses in the N.L.
In order from fewest :
Mets 24
Cubs 24
Phillies 26
Dodgers 26
Padres 26
Cardinals 28
Giants 28

The next two teams outside the grouping are : Brewers 30 losses and D'Backs 31

18 games from now , the Cardinals will be at the 81 game mark (1/2 the season ) St. Louis is currently at 35-28 Will the Cardinals go 10-8 in the 18 game run to the mid-season mark . If so , that would put them at 45- 36 .. half way to a 90-72 season IF they duplicate the second half at 45-36 pace.

It is June. We can do this till September. Play semantics. Truth is the season started in March with a games behind column to track the teams for an entire season.

Never too early to like baseball.
