For as good as hockey culture is, the temporary nature of hockey head coaches is puzzling.

It always comes across as the inmates running the asylum, although DeBoer is one of several punchable faces in the coaching ranks.

Yeah you could see this coming the moment he threw Oettinger under the bus.

With this, combined with the rumors of Robertson being available, Dallas might have a very rough off season.

The Oettinger quote was pretty wild for a coach to say publicly.

While what you say is true, DeBoer was fired for the way he handled Game 7. The way he pulled Oettinger and then what he said after the game to throw his franchise goalie under the bus.

With Otter’s new 8 year contract starting next month, one of them had to go and it wasn’t going to be Otter.

it's been a long time since I've seen a coach body a player publicly like that.

Thing is though he won't be unemployed for long. My guess is he is in Vancouver next year.

Funny how two months they seemed unstoppable. Maybe a little buyers remorse creeping in re how much they just gave Rantanen. Johnston awol in the playoffs. Oettinger doing a Turek. After Heskanen their D is really not that impressive. Wonder if this firing means Robertson is staying or are they freeing up cap space to make a run at Marner?

Otter WAS NOT the REASON Dallas lost that series…and they are not in that series without him…to pull him after (2) goals in Game (7) on defensive lapses that were not his fault…and to throw him under the bus Post Game…is a Fireable Offense…IMO…guy just does not have a long shelf life…see ya…

Yeah, I agree. They aren't a very loaded team, they just play a very good team game. However, Benn and Seguin are getting old, they overpaid for Rantanen (contract wise) and now may have to trade Robertson.

It'll be interesting how this off season goes for them.

101 is speculating Steve Ott might be in play. Dallas roots.
