The wheels in the sky keep on turning. Don’t know where we’ll be tomorrow.Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑05 Jun 2025 21:55 pm Lost the last two series. 5-5 in the last 10. Dodgers coming to town.
Are the wheels about to fall off? Is this train coming to a stop? Is this a sinking ship? Has this pilot been grounded?
Or...
Was it over when The Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? When the going gets tough, will the tough get going? Tough times won't last, but will this tough team last?
What say you, CT people?

No
The team still shows great heart and fight, even last nights loss saw them come back from being down 5-1 to tie the game.
No way this team was going to keep up the torrid pace they were on.
Even playing .500 ball the rest of the way (50-50) they'll still win 84 games, not great but one up on last season and nowhere near the disaster predicted by the national media morons.

Re: Are the wheels falling off?
Slow start to the first month of the season followed by a great May.
*Playing young guys can be a roller coaster.
*I think the rotation has overachieved and might be returning to more of what was expected?
*BP has been solid with the top 5 guys but definitely needs 6/7/8 to emerge.
All told they are better record wise then I thought.
Defense has been very good.
Sorting through the younger position guys.
Rotation will definitely be going through changes into next year!

Re: Are the wheels falling off?
The rotation definitely overachieved when the team was on its hot streak. But the problem that alerts me is, much like the last 2 seasons, when a part of this team starts to fail, it seems to cascade into a full-blown meltdown.
When they're playing with a lead and there's no pressure for any individual to come through in a big situation, everything's smooth sailing and they all seem to contribute. But anytime the starting pitching, or defense, or hitting with RISP falters, the whole thing sinks to a point those other systems are unable to bail the team out.

Can we cool it with this kind of talk? I think it was you that yesterday said how the last 2 seasons were a “horror”. And yes, 2023 was not good. But 2024 was an 83 win team. That’s not a “horror”. That’s an average, mediocre year.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑06 Jun 2025 09:34 am The rotation definitely overachieved when the team was on its hot streak. They had a rough stretch in early May last year, then followed it with an equally great stretch to get back to basically .500 by the end of the month. From that point on they never got more than 3 games below .500 the rest of the season. They never went “full blown meltdown”, that was only 2023 that they did that. And even 2023 was basically one brutal stretch in early to mid June that took them way down and then from that point on they were almost a .500 team the rest of the season.

No, the wheels are not falling off. It's just a regression to the mean.

But the Royals currently have a worse record than the Cards. Season series was split 3-3. Big deal. This isn’t the end of the world.Strummer Jones wrote: ↑06 Jun 2025 09:40 amHerein is the problem.desertrat23 wrote: ↑06 Jun 2025 08:04 amThe Royals ever being better than the Cardinals is a thing to be ashamed of.The Nard wrote: ↑06 Jun 2025 06:01 amBoth of those teams are probably really a level above the Cardinals, especially KCR. Use whichever cliche one prefers...the wheels have fallen off...the teams is back down to earth.
I predicted 78 wins and the Cards may be marginally better than that. But it's a slim margin at best.

Wheels on the bus go round and round. I fully expect a leveling off, and a steady, predictable stretch.Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑05 Jun 2025 21:55 pm Lost the last two series. 5-5 in the last 10. Dodgers coming to town.

They play well against tough competition, and let their guard down for lessor. May be a simple human emotion thing.
Re: Are the wheels falling off?
They took 2 out of 3 from the Dodgers and then got steamrolled by a team that has been on fire. Toronto is 13-3 in their last 16 games.Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025 05:29 am Use whichever cliche one prefers...the wheels have fallen off...the teams is back down to earth.
