Am I wrong here?!?!
So hear me out...this was the year we were going to play a guy like Norman Gorman nearly every day. He just turned 25...it's now or never to see what we have.
What the Hades happened? I get it...they didn't trade Nado. And when Norman did get a chance he didn't thrive. But come on...in his last 7 games he has a .978 OPS. His last 15 games his OPS is a respectable .733. He hits a home run on Tuesday and we have a double header and Oli can't get him in the lineup?
I know, I know...two lefties. But allow me to point out that Norman has, up until the last year or so, always played against lefties in his pro career. Let's also face it...Nado isn't hitting a lick. We couldn't give him a blow during game 2? Or put Hurdy Gurdy in Left with Noot in right for game 2 with Norman at second?
The point of this rant? I don't know if Norman Gorman will ever be a successful mlb hitter. I really don't...but...there can be no doubt that he is being criminally mishandled by Oli and the Cards! It looks like we won't learn a dern thing about this kid until he goes somewhere else where he can play everyday.

Interesting thread...unfortunately, the front office (donkey) kissers will have to defend DeTwit and Mo-ran!Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑05 Jun 2025 19:19 pm So hear me out...this was the year we were going to play a guy like Norman Gorman nearly every day. So you're good with Villade getting two starts and Gorman receiving 0? It's absolutely insane...Gorman has 62 career home runs in 1149 ABs and just turned 25. And Oli has him buried on the bench.Cranny wrote: ↑05 Jun 2025 19:26 pmCriminal. Exactly. But this is a screw-up of epic proportions. Again, I'm not saying Gorman will be a star...but...this team will never know either way with him only receiving 4 or 5 ABs per week.WLTFE wrote: ↑05 Jun 2025 19:31 pmInteresting thread...unfortunately, the front office (donkey) kissers will have to defend DeTwit and Mo-ran!Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑05 Jun 2025 19:19 pm So hear me out...this was the year we were going to play a guy like Norman Gorman nearly every day. Re: Am I wrong here?!?!
All I know is Gorman has a much better chance of producing today than Vilade does. You'd think Marmol might adjust after witnessing that in game 1.

Cranny with nothing to contribute but has to be condescending just because he can’t make a real argument.Cranny wrote: ↑05 Jun 2025 19:26 pmCriminal. I agree with the OP, this was declared a “runway” season, yet Gorman, one of our most promising recent prospects is sitting on the bench. The front office has zero aspirations for a WS, just mailing it in waiting for the CBA to come.
Re: Am I wrong here?!?!
It's kinda like his in the doghouse or something. Oli or front office calling the shots?

I'm gonna go with - I am also baffled by how Gorman is handled. If nado is dealt at the break they HAVE to play him every day. Either he is ready or never will be.
Re: Am I wrong here?!?!
I was hopeful that with Walker out we might at least see Gorman some more. Since he was put on the IL though? Gorman has 1 start in 5 games.
The other player I don’t get is Barrero. The guy went 3 for 10 in 3 starts after being called up in late April with his last start being an 2 for 4 day with a double and a HR and then since then has gotten 1 start over 28 days. I barely even realize he exists on the roster. We have a double header against 2 LHP’s and he doesn’t even make an appearance at all while Vilade gets 2 starts.

are you sure about a Nado deal? He seems to block every trade proposal that comes up?AZ_Cardsfan wrote: ↑05 Jun 2025 20:28 pm I'm gonna go with - I am also baffled by how Gorman is handled. If nado is dealt at the break they HAVE to play him every day. Either he is ready or never will be.

You are correct. The Cards let the tail wag the dog when it came to trading Arenado.Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑05 Jun 2025 19:19 pm So hear me out...this was the year we were going to play a guy like Norman Gorman nearly every day. He just turned 25...it's now or never to see what we have.

Re: Am I wrong here?!?!
The obsession around Gorman is absolutely bizarre. He is doing exactly what his talents allows him to do, knock one out from time to time and fill in as needed. He has 2 home runs in ~100 PA's.
He's a one tool player, there really isn't much to see. His stats are propped up due to matching up verse certain pitchers. He can handle change ups and balls low in the zone, but if the pitcher has a + fastball it's generally a 0fer night.
