With Tekoah Roby, Quinn Mathews and Mike McGreevy why do we need any pitching?
At the trade deadline?
These kids seem pretty solid.
No need to acquire much of any pitching.
Heck of a future tandem.
With an already blossoming Liberatore.
(bleep), this situation is looking better every day.

Health. Particularly Hence. Matthews hasn't really pitched this year. Roby wads injured the last 2 years. Serious doubts exist that Hence will ever be a starter.
Re: With Tekoah Roby, Quinn Mathews and Mike McGreevy why do we need any pitching?
Mathews has only pitched 18 innings this year due to injuries.
Roby has pitched 47 innings this year. He has had a lot of injuries the last two years. This is Libby’s first year as a full time starter. He won’t be able to start all season. We will need to replace innings pitched by Mikolas Fedde Matz and Hels next year.
You never have enough pitching.

Because you need waves of pitching. We do have a few coming to be excited about, but we need more depth at all levels. You don't have to dig very deep to realize there is work to do. Just check in regularly with the minor league updates that craviduce posts. You can't miss the need for improvement. On a more positive note, it may be time that we start including Ixan Henderson when we name pitchers on the Cardinals pitching horizon.

Hence is the wildcard. So much potential. Up until now, so little to show for it.
Re: With Tekoah Roby, Quinn Mathews and Mike McGreevy why do we need any pitching?
Because only 1 of those 3 pitchers is major-league ready?
And one is currently rehabbing from a shoulder injury, which should have everyone's breath baited?
And the last one is still in AA and hasn't pitched more than 58 innings since 2022?
And because they're losing 3 SPs to free agency after this season?
idk just spitballing

It's encouraging to see that Roby's been pitching into the sixth inning, recently.3dender wrote: ↑05 Jun 2025 09:01 am Because only 1 of those 3 pitchers is major-league ready?

If he can remain healthy, he certainly has promise. Hopefully he has moved past all the nagging injuriesShady wrote: ↑05 Jun 2025 09:03 amIt's encouraging to see that Roby's been pitching into the sixth inning, recently.3dender wrote: ↑05 Jun 2025 09:01 am Because only 1 of those 3 pitchers is major-league ready?

Slim has been riding the Roby train all season. Me thinks he knows a thing or two.

Always have to be adding but I think we have depth moreso than recently. Injuries have hit hard but you haveTalkin' Baseball wrote: ↑05 Jun 2025 07:04 am Because you need waves of pitching. McGreevy, Mathews, Rom
injured but were probably next
Thompson, Hjerpe, Robberse
Hence Roby Ixan
Not looking great but Mautz Racjic
the next wave is Lin Holiday(hurt) Dutkanych(hurt)
The real bummer was that group of saladin salas davila all of them just didnt take the next step. Hoping to see some progress from Branelli Franco but hes way away. and my wildcards are savacool, sequera and showalter
Also high on Granillo and Gastelum seems to be putting it together for relief.
Graceffo and Bedell have just not been it but maybe they unlock something. Hansen as well.

Agreed! The Cards organization is a long way from having enough pitching prospects in the organization. Bring them on! At all levels. We’re probably going to need two MLB starters on August 1. McGravy is one. Who is the other?3dender wrote: ↑05 Jun 2025 09:01 am Because only 1 of those 3 pitchers is major-league ready?

A century and a half of baseball has taught us that you ALWAYS need more pitching.

Excellent post. One of the best of the year about the system’s pitching depth.tyoung12290 wrote: ↑05 Jun 2025 09:45 amAlways have to be adding but I think we have depth moreso than recently.
