Rainiel Rodriguez first HR with Palm Beach

Post by craviduce »

he has some serious turning power.

I could've put this with the minor league report, but this kid deserves his own thread for now....8 HR in 20 games played 8O

Has hit in 3 leagues in under 60 games played. It's so early to sing his praises, but you can't deny the hit tool. When JJ Cooper at Baseball America salivates over a prospect, it's good idea to jump on that bandwagon.

Don't worry about catcher back log with him, they'll find a place for him to play. Corner OF or 2B would be a good choice, imo.

edit ~ 61 games played...41 DSL last season, 20 games between FCL and PMB this season.

18 HRs and 56 RBI in 267 PAs as a professional

Dang impressive

Looking forward to seeing how he does with Palm Beach. Never know, we might have found something with him!

you invoke JJ Cooper's name, and he releases a Prospect Soapbox on Baseball America, and Rainiel and Yairo are featured

29:10 mark for Pontes' and Cooper's remarks

By this time next year, Rainiel will be a Top 50, maybe Top 25 prospect in all of baseball...if this arc continues, which it looks for now it will

Yes, the hit tool is there. He has some baby fat, hopefully he slims down as he ages a bit. Corner OFer hopefully. Too bad he can't play 3B. He can probably play 1B though. We shall see. Maybe he can develop as a C...... Gotta play somewhere unless he is the DH (which unfortunately isn't going away).

Do you think he is athletic enough to play 2B? That would be freakish power from that position.

I am surprised nobody has said what I am about to say........that build, stance and swing look awfully similar to someone who hit the baseball very very good for the Cardinals a few years ago.
