Jaromir Jagr’s Stanley Cup Finals streak is absolutely mind-blowing

Post by Spyro Gyra »

Forget “Six Degrees to Kevin Bacon,” because this one might be even better. Jaromír Jágr was a juggernaut of the NHL playing from 1990 until his retirement in 2018. Obviously he played with a lot of different people during that time, but it this fact is absolutely mind-blowing.

That’s right, Jágr has played with someone who has been on a Stanley Cup Finals team EVERY YEAR FOR THE LAST 45 YEARS. That goes back to the 1980 Stanley Cup Finals between the Islanders and Flyers, and yes this is real.

Interesting, Spyro Gyra. I liked Jagr and wouldn't have minded having him even in his later years. The reverse of the article is interesting also. All those guys who Jagr played with, got to play with Jagr too. Which should have been a thrill for those guys. Nice find.

Thanks, BD. When I read it, I found it almost too hard to believe.

This is unbelievable!

Might have to look into if there are any other active players or if the streak will end whenever Barkov next doesn't make the Final.

Oh right so there are definitely other active players. Duh!

Guess we will just have to go to the Final next year to keep it going!

Since Stan played 22 seasons, that will be fun, even though this was long before free agency.

How about someone like Edwin Jackson, the pitcher who played for 14 clubs and was traded; released, and/or "granted free agency" 19 times? Or Mike Morgan, Terry Mulholland, Todd Zeile, et al?

On the hockey side, didn't Mike Sillinger play for and with everybody?

Jagr was so much fun to watch, and he played for nine teams over 24 seasons --- despite not playing in the NHL for three seasons in the middle --- so he got to know a LOT of people.

The guy was a magician. He could be standing still & stick-handling around 3 guys. His hands were incredible.
