luke weaver,go figure
the guy had glimpses of promise with the cards and thus far this year has been unhittable as the yanks closer...you never know
Re: luke weaver,go figure
I'm happy for the guy, but would you have wanted to hang on to essentially a negative WAR guy for like 7 seasons just to unlock a couple good relief years? I think the Cardinals and other teams were wise to move on when they did. Kudos to the Yankees for doing whatever they did to unlock the potential, but the Cardinals were right to move on at the time.

His wife was always a hot Christian girl
Re: luke weaver,go figure
You could also say the same thing about another former Cardinal Carson Kelly, whose career kind of parallels Weavers.
Started out in St. Louis, traded to Az, struggled for many years, and this year Kelly is playing like Johnny Bench.

While he was pitching like the Dream Weaver for us on that glorious streak, some Bozos were meh waiting for Flaherty...

Lucky or smart, you have to give the Yankees some credit. They took a minimal chance on a guy who was just hanging around and look what they found. One of the most successful closers in the game for the last year or so.

Weaver failed as a starter everywhere before reinventing himself as a relief pitcher.MrPostman01 wrote: ↑22 May 2025 17:06 pm While he was pitching like the Dream Weaver for us on that glorious streak, some Bozos were meh waiting for Flaherty...
Flaherty was and is the better starting pitcher.

many failed starters with good stuff ultimately become good bullpen arms...

Being hot isn’t a sin, nothing she can do about it. Lusting for her is..ClassicO wrote: ↑22 May 2025 17:45 pmYep. https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=htt ... AdAAAAABAE
Is "hot Christian girl" oxymoronic?

Weaver was originally rated slightly higher than Flaherty. He showed early promise after the trade to Arizona, so much so that he was projected as their #1 starter. But he never regained form after injuries until achieving success as a reliever last year and so far this year with the Yankees. None of this should be interpreted as an objection to the trade for Goldschmidt.JohnnyMO wrote: ↑22 May 2025 19:01 pmWeaver failed as a starter everywhere before reinventing himself as a relief pitcher.MrPostman01 wrote: ↑22 May 2025 17:06 pm While he was pitching like the Dream Weaver for us on that glorious streak, some Bozos were meh waiting for Flaherty...

Met his mom one time at Spring Training. Good people.

Flaherty is 57-46 with a 3.68 era, 1.18 whip, and 1006 strikeouts over 883 career innings.cardiological wrote: ↑22 May 2025 20:06 pmWeaver was originally rated slightly higher than Flaherty. Weaver is 35-46 with a 4.70 era. 1.35 whip, and 697 strikeouts over 697 innings.
It’s not even close who has been the more valuable pitcher. Weaver seemed like a good guy and it’s great he’s turned himself into a dominant reliever. But he never was as valuable as Flaherty.

I don’t disagree. My only point was that by 2017 Weaver had leapfrogged Flaherty as far as Cardinals prospect rankings. (However, I shouldn’t have said “originally” since Flaherty in 2016 had been ranked one slot above Weaver.)JohnnyMO wrote: ↑22 May 2025 21:07 pmFlaherty is 57-46 with a 3.68 era, 1.18 whip, and 1006 strikeouts over 883 career innings.cardiological wrote: ↑22 May 2025 20:06 pmWeaver was originally rated slightly higher than Flaherty.
