I'm happy for the guy, but would you have wanted to hang on to essentially a negative WAR guy for like 7 seasons just to unlock a couple good relief years? I think the Cardinals and other teams were wise to move on when they did. Kudos to the Yankees for doing whatever they did to unlock the potential, but the Cardinals were right to move on at the time.

I don’t disagree. My only point was that by 2017 Weaver had leapfrogged Flaherty as far as Cardinals prospect rankings. (However, I shouldn’t have said “originally” since Flaherty in 2016 had been ranked one slot above Weaver.)
