He mentioned that he thinks Wetherholt is a nice prospect. Pretty solid take on that. is that a check in the right box?

That’s is good points and expected n a reset. It’s just that roster/asset management is never discussed in depth.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑01 Jun 2025 14:18 pmHopefully they don't wait until Gorman is untradeable also. If we have Arenado for 2 more seasons, he WILL be the 3B. If we hang on to Donovan, Gorman, Sagesse, Winn, and Wetherholt during that time as well, that will get really stagnant. Gorman and Sagesse will lose playing time and trade value while their service clocks continue to run. Some of the trades at the deadline will be more about roster/asset management than being a "buyer" or a "seller".

My thoughts exactly Hullie. Unless he figures out how to stop popping out every other AB, Cards will be stuck with him for the duration of his contract. I sure hope he gets hot soon...hullie wrote: ↑02 Jun 2025 10:59 amIt wouldn’t beslimjay63801 wrote: ↑02 Jun 2025 09:36 am How would Gorman playing 3RD be the better option? I say keep him. It's gotten to the point that when he comes up to bat, especially with runners on, I immediately say out loud to myself, "Please Nado, do not pop up this time."sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑02 Jun 2025 11:05 amWas second in baseball in pop up percentage. Kenton Lloyd Boyer wasn’t exactly chopped liver. Ask the ‘64 Yanks. Ask the National League.

Call him into Moe’s office with Bloom there and tell him he’s going to hit 8th from now on because he’s not good enough to hit 9th. Then tell him that’s where he will always hit while he is a Cardinal. Then tell him the club will transition away from him at 3B over the remainder of his contract. Tell him he’s been given plenty of chances to perform offensively and it’s nothing personal, just business. Tell him Dal Maxville never made the kind of money he’s making. No more jacking around with this $35 million fading asset. See if he loosens up on that NTC.

He will be difficult to trade, even with his consent. If the team wanted to make these things known to him to gain his consent, I guess they could. However, if they are to have any hope of trading him, they couldn't follow through on this until after the deadline. If we treat him like he has no value, or that he is washed up- guess what? Others will too. It doesn't serve the goal?Rojo Johnson wrote: ↑03 Jun 2025 04:51 am Call him into Moe’s office with Bloom there and tell him he’s going to hit 8th from now on because he’s not good enough to hit 9th. Betting on N/A's pop-ups would at least make them more interesting.

Of course they do, and for that reason it may not be possible to trade him under any circumstances. I'm just saying that if our goal is to try to trade him, overt actions like that don't serve that goal.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑03 Jun 2025 08:50 amYou don’t think other teams see what we all see already?Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑03 Jun 2025 08:44 amHe will be difficult to trade, even with his consent. His hitting is not good. He’s becoming a late inning defensive replacement.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑03 Jun 2025 09:38 amOf course they do, and for that reason it may not be possible to trade him under any circumstances. In their "thinking", his is a full-time starting 3b anchoring the 6th spot in the lineup.
Both cannot be fired soon enough.
