Re: Libby Home -vs- Road Splits
Before this season, his biggest issue as a starter was being prone to the "big inning." Certainly happened last night, although he didn't appear overly sharp either. How he pitched beyond the 2nd I have no idea. That game wans't worth wasting a Friday night on.
Hopefully it was just one bad game and they all fully exorcised it from their system. Or the Rangers beat it out of them...

Re: Libby Home -vs- Road Splits
RHHs have lit up Liberatore on the road this year. One measure is OPS and the righties he's faced have hit 734 away from Busch and 525 at home. Most of the difference is he's allowed hitters to flex their muscles on the road--RH ISO 086 at home, 162 away.
Re: Libby Home -vs- Road Splits
I’m still impressed with the guy this year. I’m wondering if it is a mental thing with change in surroundings or differences in the parks including the mounds. All teams gear toward their home park. But obviously he needs to get better on the road.

FIP at home is 2.27, road is 3.05
Re: Libby Home -vs- Road Splits
Thanks and that is a big difference. My understanding is that 3.0 is very good anything below is excellent?

Just another hump he's going to have to learn to get over.

Re: Libby Home -vs- Road Splits
He had nothing last night and still went 5. Learning to pitch on the days without having A stuff is crucial. In years past I think he completely unravels after that bad inning.

He gave up 2 or less runs in 4 of the 6(1 was cut 2 3 ip ciz rain)rockondlouie wrote: ↑31 May 2025 09:11 am 2025 Libby Home:

And the 2 ERs in 3 IP in that rain start goes in the bad column, he doesn't get credit for that one on the good side and you know it.Wattage wrote: ↑31 May 2025 21:28 pmHe gave up 2 or less runs in 4 of the 6(1 was cut 2 3 ip ciz rain)rockondlouie wrote: ↑31 May 2025 09:11 am 2025 Libby Home:

I just consider that one more of an incomplete. Thats why i added the note it ended early. Point is i dont think 2 bad starts is yet to identify a certain trend with libby and more a small sample size sort of thing.rockondlouie wrote: ↑01 Jun 2025 08:37 amAnd the 2 ERs in 3 IP in that rain start goes in the bad column, he doesn't get credit for that one on the good side and you know it.Wattage wrote: ↑31 May 2025 21:28 pmHe gave up 2 or less runs in 4 of the 6(1 was cut 2 3 ip ciz rain)rockondlouie wrote: ↑31 May 2025 09:11 am 2025 Libby Home:

Re: Libby Home -vs- Road Splits
rock has been pretty steadfast in his belief that Liberatore was nothing more that a middle reliever, so it shouldn’t be much of a surprise to nitpick a bit.Wattage wrote: ↑01 Jun 2025 09:23 amI just consider that one more of an incomplete. Umpires give the home team a break. MLB needs the electronic strike zone now.rockondlouie wrote: ↑31 May 2025 09:11 am 2025 Libby Home:

Okay but he was off to a rough start (3IP/2ER) it could've been a bad one.Wattage wrote: ↑01 Jun 2025 09:23 amI just consider that one more of an incomplete. But the trend is there wattage:

4.45 ERA
1.27 WHiP
Vs his great starts at Home (1.69 ERA/0.84 WHiP).

There is not a meaningful difference in his strikeout and walk rates home & away.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑01 Jun 2025 10:47 amUmpires give the home team a break. MLB needs the electronic strike zone now.rockondlouie wrote: ↑31 May 2025 09:11 am 2025 Libby Home:

His BABIP allowed is 77 points higher on the road (.327 to .250)
A lot of it is SSS noise.
