What should Mo try to acquire at the trade deadline?

Post by Shady »

Realistically. Just in case the Cardinals become buyers instead of sellers. Or should Mo just stand pat? Mo does have a surplus of catchers in the organization that could be good trade chips. And what about trying to deal Gorman?

I don't think Pallante or Mikolas will put up with what they are doing over the course of the season, especially mikolas. So I'd like to see them go out and get a starter. Maybe a #3 type guy if the price is there.

Also bullpen help, especially from the right side. Leahy has fallen back down to earth a bit and you can't rely on Maton and Helsley all season. Need bullpen guys who can get outs.

Other than that I think our offense is fine, we have pretty much every position covered in some way. Maybe bench help if they can't find a way to get Gorman going

That's a very reasonable post regarding the situation. Personally, with McGreevy seemingly ready, Mo would be fine dealing either Fedde or Mikolas. Fedde is more practical considering Mikolas' NTC. If Mikolas doesn't have a NTC, please correct me.

Could Fedde get that? Maybe an AAA power hitter that's blocked.

At the deadline Mo should acquire players for future seasons. Preferably young pitchers.

A 2019 second half Jack Flaherty. A shutdown ace that could almost by himself win a couple of playoff games. Love Pallante, Mikolas and Fedde for innings eating and regular season stuff but in the playoff against full strength playoff line ups, that doesn't seem like an advantage and a team that feels like an early exit in the postseason. It would be best if it could be a minor leaguer like Graceffo, Matthews or McGreevy.

James Wood. Plant him in a Corner OF spot for the next 5 years.

Be expensive but would fill a long term void.

Bullpen piece(s).

Alphas, come n throwing heat, and strikes. No farting around or nibbling. Want a Dog, spitting, snorting, twitching out there. Just give him the ball and let him get after em. Again, no farting around. All Business All The Time

McGreevey. Want to see a spot open for him as I believe he is well past ready..so somebody has to go. Ideally in an advantageous trade.

Add Tekoah Roby to that minor league pitcher list. He's had some fantastic recent outings at AA.

DH has been a weakness but Herrera is now plugging that gap.

RF has been a weakness. Do you keep giving Walker runway? Do you give Burleson a shot in RF? Do you move Noot to RF, Donovan to LF and try Saggese at 2B?

1B and CF are next. Do you hope Contreras rebounds? Do you keep giving Scott runway?

CF 16 0.8fWAR

Way too soon to accurately predict what they should go for.

Do you belong to an agency where you collect residuals for typing:
“Burleson”
“Saggese”
“Roby”
