So my trade speculation for Skenes was poopooed, check this out

Pirates have already shot this down. Trading Skenes now would be close to a death blow for Pirates as he is their biggest draw and you aren’t going to get such a draw back. Pirates have other good pitchers they can trade , such as Keller, to get some offensive help.
In theory the Cards could offer Wetherholt, Mathews and Crooks and not hurt their future that much. They would need to extend Donovan to cover second base. Skeenes would more than compensate for Mathews and Cards have the catching depth. If they draft a middle infielder with their top pick that would fill the void of losing Wetherholt.
Dodgers, Seattle or Red Sox could offer a better package for Skeenes. I would try to get Bubba Chandler from them. Prospect for prospect trades are rare but Wetherholt for Chandler trade might interest them. If Cards extend Donovan the middle infield is covered for years and a chance to grab a young tor pitcher is rare.

You are correct. It is highly doubtful and even more so he would go to the Cards. What amazes me is how posters will suggest trades for Cardinal prospects and think that would get the deal done or even throw in a few of more mediocre players off the roster

Skenes would require top prospect (s), and a big hit off the current roster like a Donovan, Winn, Ivan, Libby, etc.

But it ain’t happening and especially not happening for the cards.

Unable to open the link you provided so can’t comment on the details.
As I have posted before in the other “Skenes Threads” I DON’T see the Pirates rushing to trade Skenes NOW as they possess years of control and time.
That means I don’t see them accepting a deal from ANYONE unless it is a massive overpay.
In general I would not want the Cards to massively overpay for anyone!
