Memorial Day
A day that we remember all those who paid the ultimate price in the protection of our freedoms. Deep gratitude and reverence goes out to them.
Re: Memorial Day
Thank you to all who served! I never served, but do really appreciate those of you who have.
Re: Memorial Day
I want to visit Amsterdam where my great uncle is buried in a military cemetery. The Lord be willing.

Re: Memorial Day
A lot of young men, and some young women too, gave their lives so we could live free. We would do well to remember that places like this aren't that important, but are indicative of the free society they fought to preserve.

Re: Memorial Day
Thinking of my father who was part of DDay invasion at Utah beach. Received the bronze star and Purple Heart. Also thinking of my brother in law who served two tours of duty in the Marines in Vietnam and died of liver disease at age 42 due to agent orange which the Government failed to acknowledge until well after his death. Also my brother who served in Vietnam and is fighting blood cancer and copd now due to his exposure.

Re: Memorial Day
I am named after my father's cousin who was killed in WWII. My father never shied away from talking about that. We owe a lot to those who fought to defend our nation. Still need to stand against the totalitarianism of our world and even within our nation.
Re: Memorial Day
From General John A. Logan's General Order 11, the original Memorial Day proclamation (first known as Decoration Day):
"Let no vandalism of avarice or neglect, no ravages of time testify to the present or to the coming generations that we have forgotten as a people the cost of a free and undivided republic. If other eyes grow dull, other hands slack, and other hearts cold in the solemn trust, ours shall keep it well as long as the light and warmth of life remain to us. Let us, then, at the time appointed gather around their sacred remains and garland the passionless mounds above them with the choicest flowers of spring-time; let us raise above them the dear old flag they saved from hishonor; let us in this solemn presence renew our pledges to aid and assist those whom they have left among us a sacred charge upon a nation's gratitude, the soldier's and sailor's widow and orphan".

Thank you also to those serving. Today though is honoring those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the USA Memorial Day
Veterans Day is to honor those who served our country or who are currently serving our country.
