Dallas also has four regular season stars/playoffs stiffs

Post by Clark Kimble »

Benn, Duchene, Johnston, and Robertson are doing a killer impersonation of Toronto's own "core four".

Benn is hardly a star. You think Duschene is a star?

Think maybe they are just outmatched?

Johnston was a stud last year for them. Benn is usually OK but he’s also 35 and slowing down. Robertson has also been really good in prior years but is clearly still fighting through an injury (missed round 1).

Seguin and Duchene have a rich history of not doing a lot in the postseason.

Dallas heavily outshot Edmonton, even without Hintz on the ice. Skinner played very well.

Edmonton can definitely put it in the net, and they did tonight. The 2-headed TOP5 Monster is never far away.

I for one am pretty surprised how this series has gone so far.

I think right now Dallas is beat down mentally as well as physically and I did not expect either.

The talent they do have has not shown up.

I was very fortunate to become a hockey fanatic the year after Bobby Orr's rookie season, and I see an awful lot of #4 in #97.

McDavid is just unreal, despite every team he plays against keying on him and Draisaitl.

However, if the Oilers meet the Panthers for the Cup, it may be a repeat of last season's Final. Edmonton's supporting cast has to be at their best, and Evander Kane has to avoid stupid penalties if they're to make a serious run to bring THEIR Cup back to its rightful owner: Canada.

Perfect summation. They are beat up physically. Robertson missed most if not all of the first two rounds after getting hurt in a meaningless regular season finale. I know hindsight is lovely and all but well done Debore. Heskennenenenineninn (sp) missed 42 games after the king of the LTIR scams Mark Stone didn't intentionally dive right at his knee. No names but other guys are clearly hurt. Their end of season presser by peter the bore will be chalk full of "he had a torn meniscus" 'he was playing with six cracked ribs" etc. Oh, and I think Johnston might be setting the modern day +/- record in the bad way for the playoffs.

Let's also give full credit to the Oil so far. Other than one very strange period they look like FLA in this series. They just need to hope skinner doesn't revert back to the form that got his (donkey) yanked from the LA series. He wouldn't likely be playing if the other guy didn't get hurt.

I should also add that the premise of this thread is a bit silly. Comparing the Stars core 4, whoever they are it sure as hell isn't ancient Jamie Benn, to the 4 guys in Tornonto is ridiculous.

Yes but Seguin was a Top 2 pick and Duchene was a Top 3 pick. A lot of what gets drooled out multiple times daily is that should pretty much guarantee a Cup.

It’s still only 2-1. Let’s not throw dirt on them yet. If they go down 3-1 the fat lady can start warming up, but Skinner is still Skinner.

I agree with this.

EDM is running on them. Dallas has to be stronger mentally. They can't get beat in their own head.

Duchene... duchene was outed back in rado. He is not a star. He has tools but no tool box.

And weirdly neither was drafted by Dallas, which I’ve been told is the only way to get those guys.

Game 3 June 1, 2019: Bruins 7 Blues 2
Game 6 June 9 2019: Bruins 5 Blues 1

Both games were in St. Louis.

What matters is how the Stars respond. If they respond like Carolina they are likely toast.
