Leafs Fire Shanny
The 11-year ShanaPlan is in the can. Oddly, his contract was due to expire next month, and they'd given permission to the Islanders to interview him. So why fire him? https://www.thestar.com/sports/leafs/ma ... d1f2c.html
Re: Leafs Fire Shanny
They didn’t really fire him, they just said we’re not renewing your contract. Splitting hairs but basically the same thingClark Kimble wrote: ↑23 May 2025 16:04 pm The 11-year ShanaPlan is in the can. Re: Leafs Fire Shanny
I guess this makes it look to Leafs fans like ownership is finally acting on all those playoff flops.
Seeing how the Leafs got physically manhandled all series long by Florida, when they removed their sweaters after Game 7 I wonder how many of Harold Ballard's uncracked eggs fell out.

Re: Leafs Fire Shanny
They were a post/goal away from going up 3-0 because they were getting physically manhandled all series.
Makes sense…guess they were that much more skilled.

But they didn't. Only the shots that wind up on the net count. You and bleedr can make all the irrelevant posts you want. Fact is, they got beat.Cardsfanforlife wrote: ↑23 May 2025 21:46 pmYep... matthews hit a couple posts. Leafs were actually really close to going to the cup.

Yeah goal away from being up 3-0 against the champs because they were being physically dominated all series.Aesa wrote: ↑23 May 2025 21:49 pmBut they didn't. Sure. But look how the canes are getting handled. It's not even close. Leafs were a lot closer than peeps what to admit. That's cool.

Berube may not keep his job either...maybe. Everything is up in the air now.

TORONTO -- Keith Pelley, president and chief executive officer of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, said the goal is for the Toronto Maple Leafs to win the Stanley Cup, not just reach the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Meanwhile, in St Louis, we are angling for "5% better", no mention of Lord or Stanley or Cup in our mission statement.
No way that Armstrong ever gets hired in Toronto. His 5% better speech up there would get him thrown over the falls.

IN APPRECIATION OF BRENDAN SHANAHAN: A really nice tribute from the Toronto Globe and Mail's hockey beat writer.
I'm a TG&M subscriber, so this is a gift article: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/gift/3b ... SVREBN6KSA
Given how, playing at home in an elimination game, the Leafs conceded the first twenty-five shot attempts to Florida, somebody in a suit is going to accuse Berube of not having his guys prepared. Perhaps what Berube really needs is the freedom to shape a team in his own mold, like all those times the Blues acquired "Sutter-type" players for Coach Brian (to mixed results).
What the Leafs' overpaid "core four" did in the playoffs was like playing flag football against the Philadelphia Eagles playing NFL football.

Current and former Leafs players will tell you there's no hockey pressure cooker worse than Toronto. You never get away from it unless you leave town. The old fans' motto was "We're 100% behind you, win or tie." And, despite not winning a Cup since the 6-team era, they're still priced as the most valuable hockey franchise in North America.
