Evan Longoria
Look at Longoria's career from age 32 on. Then look at Nado's career from age 32 on. This is what we are seeing with Arenado and I sadly only see it getting better in short spurts. He is on the decline, the positive is that because of his defense and dormant elite hitting ability he will stay above replacement level for the next 2 years or so. But, he will be a shadow of the perennial MVP contender.
If you remove ballpark differences between Coors and Tropicana, Longoria and Nado almost have exact career paths, trends, and trajectories.
In hindsight, Nado was a genius for not opting out.

I like Eva Longoria better.
So do you.
So do you.
Re: Evan Longoria
I was thinking about Longoria the other day in this regard.
I do think that NA may age a little better given his better glove.

He's replacement level now, if the Cards had a young option to step in at 3bBasil Shabazz wrote: ↑20 May 2025 07:55 am Look at Longoria's career from age 32 on. Re: Evan Longoria
Wetherholt, Sagesse, and Gorman are the replacements as of now. Cards need to add some pitching. I would like to see what Gorman could do at 3b on a full time basis. Maybe even in a platoon situation with Sagesse.
Re: Evan Longoria
Extend Donovan and put him at third base. Saggesse needs to take the Donovan role as super sub. This opens second for Wetherholt. Herrera needs to learn how to play left field this off season. He’s athletic enough to handle it. Nootbar and Gorman are trade chips. Noot is not going to sign an extension and if he stays healthy rest of year and does well should bring in a good return with two years of control left. Gorman needs a fresh start elsewhere.

I agree with most, but I don’t agree with saying Noot wouldn’t sign an extension.kyace wrote: ↑20 May 2025 09:50 am Extend Donovan and put him at third base. Re: Evan Longoria
I think Noot would resign and if he can prove to stay healthy this season you want to resign him. Walker imo is officially on the bust watch. Hes young and can still figure it out and the optimist in me thinks he will but I can’t count on it. Herrera can play some OF yes but also can utilize that DH spot. Some sort of rotation of Noot, Scott, Walker, and Herrera is very doable and very solidkyace wrote: ↑20 May 2025 09:50 am Extend Donovan and put him at third base. Re: Evan Longoria
At this point I think it may be too late to sign either. If both continue to have very good years and being only a few years from free agency they may wait and see. I can see the fear of a lock out may spur one on to get some money up front with an extension if a big bonus up front is offered. I can see Donovan doing that as he has a family to support and in baseball terms not making a lot now. Getting money up front would lessen the blow of a lock out and lost wages.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑20 May 2025 09:57 amI agree with most, but I don’t agree with saying Noot wouldn’t sign an extension.kyace wrote: ↑20 May 2025 09:50 am Extend Donovan and put him at third base. I still see Nootbar wanting to join his buddies in LA. If that is the case best trade him with two years of control and get something significant in return.

Do tell, mon brave homme. What do you know that the rest of us do not?kyace wrote: ↑20 May 2025 09:50 am Extend Donovan and put him at third base. It might be, it might not be. He seems to be pretty happy there. It’s always about the money though. I just wouldn’t definitively say he is not going to sign an extension.kyace wrote: ↑20 May 2025 10:47 amAt this point I think it may be too late to sign either.
