Left Wing Glut
Or more specifically, a lefty shooting winger glut.
For "top 9" options under contract next year at the NHL level, we've got:
-Buch, Holloway, Neighbours, Bolduc, Joseph, Texier
AHL/Prospect Options include:
-Alexandrov (if re-signed-current RFA), Kaskimaki, Stenberg, maybe even Dvo?
I think Tex is probably gone. Army specifically called out wanting to get him games when Saad was waived and Monty still didn't play him. I am guessing Joseph will be back for depth unless we an eager trade partner comes out of the woodworks.
That is still a lot of guys for 3-4 regular spots (4 if one plays their off side).
Would you all be pushing to move some of this depth for a 2/3C, RD or right-shooting wing?
I'll probably get flayed for this, but I would be down to move Neighbours. I just think Bolduc is going to be the more valuable (and unique) player in the long run. Probably doesn't happen though since Jake signed a bridge deal that kicks in next year. He is also probably more likely to be a good soldier on the 3rd line behind Buch and Holloway. Anyhow, I am guessing our top 9 ends up looking like this:
Buch-Thomas-Snuggy
Holloway-Schenn/2C-Kyrou
Neighbours-Schenn/3C-Bolduc

Re: Left Wing Glut
Guys in minors may get traded for whatever we need at the time. Im not that worried about it.
Re: Left Wing Glut
Only way to trade Neighbours is for a legit RHD or part of much bigger package.Cujo's Mask wrote: ↑19 May 2025 13:04 pm

Just turned 23, with 49 total goals last two seasons. And grit.
What's more, the left/right thing isn't quite as important for forwards.

That's fair. And I like Neighbours as a player and person.blues2112 wrote: ↑19 May 2025 13:13 pmOnly way to trade Neighbours is for a legit RHD or part of much bigger package.Cujo's Mask wrote: ↑19 May 2025 13:04 pm

But even with guys playing their off side, there is a glut now and in the future. And you gotta give to get (agreed on it being for RD..or a C).
Also, side note: Anyone know if Holloway played center when he was in the AHL? I know we are coming off the failed conversion of Buch to center, but I think having Holloway in the middle would solve a lot up front for us if he could do it (which I have no idea). I don't want to mess with him if he is comfortable a wing though. Plus, he's not going to get a full offseason of training with the injury.
Re: Left Wing Glut
Make it work with Jake. Hes what you dream of. We need a team of Jakes. No way hes traded.

Re: Left Wing Glut
The LW glut is even worse when you take the whole org into account. The OP mentioned the LWs that were in Springfield this season but Robertsson, Pekarcik, Stancl, Kos and Mrsic all shoot left too. Robertsson and Pekarcik seem to play the right side usually though.
Not going to advocate trading any particular player but LW and LD are where we are deep organizationally so if/when we make trades, It’d absolutely make sense to trade from these positions to supplement other areas where we’re lacking.

Lol...no. Schenn is either on the 2nd or 3rd line with the "2C" or "3C" a player not yet identified.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑19 May 2025 14:42 pmDouble shifting Schenn?Cujo's Mask wrote: ↑19 May 2025 13:04 pm Or more specifically, a lefty shooting winger glut.

Would you trade Jake Neighbours to Boston for 2nd line center 6'3 right hand shot Morgan Geekie -- 26 years old // last season played 77 games --33 goals -- 24 assist and a plus 3 on a bad Boston team, I believe he is a restricted free agent , made somewhere around 2 million last year.

Re: Left Wing Glut
I think that's a no brainer that's been addressed recently. The consensus is Boston wouldn't do it. If the pot was sweetened enough they would. The numbers look good but what else does he do?stanw wrote: ↑19 May 2025 21:50 pm Would you trade Jake Neighbours to Boston for 2nd line center 6'3 right hand shot Morgan Geekie -- 26 years old // last season played 77 games --33 goals -- 24 assist and a plus 3 on a bad Boston team, I believe he is a restricted free agent , made somewhere around 2 million last year.

Re: Left Wing Glut
Snuggy is Jimmy Snuggerud which you know and I'm sorry you don't like his nickname but it already happened.
Calling out someone for spelling when you know exactly who they meant. I say that as a born grammarian. Don't do it, it's just hostile which you know
