See, now we're running into the problem that we did not want to face coming into this season. The goal going into this season was to let guys like Walker play. I know he's looked terrible. But they either need to let him play and work out of it or send him down if he's being mentally overwhelmed.

But I just can't get with any situation in which Burleson gets more playing time than Walker unless say scrap their plan, which I don't think is a really good idea.

See, now we're running into the problem that we did not want to face coming into this season. The goal going into this season was to let guys like Walker play. I know he's looked terrible. But they either need to let him play and work out of it or send him down if he's being mentally overwhelmed.

But I just can't get with any situation in which Burleson gets more playing time than Walker unless say scrap their plan, which I don't think is a really good idea.

Yup... this position has basically become screaming into the void, but the plan before the season was to play Walker and Gorman and it was a good plan and they've totally abandoned it 6 weeks into the season, like a dog chasing a squirrel.

Walker's at least getting more PT than Gorman, who has only started 2 games in 12 days (and who still has a higher OPS than Walker).

Does no one realize Herrera is a defensive liability behind the plate? We have 2 better options behind the plate who can actually throw out runners. Herrera is the DH.

In less AB's than Burleson, Pages has more runs scored and more RBI's than Burleson does. Pages also threw out a SB attempt yesterday, and chances are very high that Herrea wouldn't have been able to. Pages also has a better bWAR than Burleson. Obviously Herrera is a better DH than Burleson. Even Walker has more RBI's and runs scored than Burly and they both are close in total AB's.
Burleson didn't even try to go after a ball last night that went for a double off the wall. Maybe Walker doesn't either but I don't know that.
I'd start Burly about once a week at 1B, about once a week in the OF, and in both cases only against a LHP. The rest of the time he can ph off the bench.
If Burly stays hot, then reconsider his playing time. He needs to be a +.800 OPS guy to provide any significant positive value if he's going to play a position. IF he's become more selective at the plate, aka plate discipline, then maybe he can become an +.800 guy, but we've never seen him be able to do that yet on a consistent basis.

Well, I don't think we are running into a problem unless vegascardsfan makes the lineup cards.

And one very hot week from Burleson shouldn't mean: "Oh! Now Burleson gets every start vs RHP and Walker gets the scraps!"

You can still divide the playing time so everyone stays relatively fresh.

Agreed with all of this.
Walker has had a few hits in the last couple of games. But, he's hitting 0.211 over the last seven games with a 0.632 OPS. Meanwhile, Burleson is hitting 0.444 with a 1.333 OPS.
Walker needs to play, but not everyday. He's on thin ice, IMO.
