Other than timing out quicker than I'd like I don't seem to have any issues.

I'm slow at composing so timing out was a problem for me in the past. The site help told me to use the preview button to reset the timeout window and that worked. This thing here is something new and there's no rhyme or reason. I've emailed site help again.

I understand your point of view and and sympathetic to a point but don't agree with your constant trolling.

Driving to Saskatoon for home games is too horrible to contemplate for most posters here. I get their unreasonable fear as well.

I thought we had common ground on Armangosteen but I guess it was too cheesy.

The post I lost and posted about was on the subject of 'tanking for draft position". I'd thought it out well and it was objective, with no axe to grind. That (upset) me off. I'll try again later.

I went through the same frustration when I was first trying to be part of the forum. It was explained to me that the site does not recognize keystrokes, so if you are taking your time to post a thoughtful, coherent message...it times you out. The solution:

Click on the PREVIEW button periodically at the bottom, so that the "clock" restarts and when you are ready then hit the submit. And to play it safe, hit PREVIEW again right before you submit. Note, sometimes it will reposition you to another one of the postings window, so just make sure that you are on your white Draft screen before you hit submit.

Hopefully this helps. Good Luck!

Timeouts are implemented to ensure that the system does not get "overloaded" by the user workload. In an attempt to help the live active users, the system logs out the inactive users automatically. The classic example is logging out all users that went to lunch and have been inactive for 45 minutes. Getting these users off the system helps the active users.

This sort of timeout mechanism is needed for Amazon, where there are 1,000,000 concurrent users!!! Why is there a timeout for BluesTalk? There is no way that the user activity/volume is so high that a timeout of less than 12 hours is even needed.

IMHO. Just change the setting from 5 minutes to 5 hours, and we are all good. Timeouts that are implemented well should be invisible to the users, not in their face 10 times per day.

I have never run into anything like OP. Do you have "keep me signed in" checked? I think I get logged out once every couple weeks/months.

The logout happens to me constantly. If I post 3 times per day, it will happen all 3 times--if my response takes more than about 10 minutes. I also see this error a lot:

This site can’t be reached
interact.stltoday.com took too long to respond.
Try:

Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
ERR_TIMED_OUT

I'll have to look for that. I log out only when I know I won't be back for 2-3 hours or until the next day. I check in here to read any new posts 2-5 times a day 4-5 days per week.

Here's a suggestion! If you have Windows use Word to type out your message. Don't have Word, use notepad. Copy and paste your message in! I prefer WordPad! Enjoy! Other operating systems have other text editors.
