Blues’ 2025 Draft Preview: Five Prospects Who Could Shape the Future at 19th Overall

By Mike Meyer
May 19, 2025

The St. Louis Blues hold the 19th overall pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, scheduled for June 27 in Los Angeles. This selection is not expected to impact the NHL roster in the short term but instead serves as a key addition to the organization’s prospect pipeline. With a typical development timeline of three or more years, the Blues are targeting a player who could contribute at the NHL level around the 2028–29 season—strengthening depth at key positions and aligning with the long-term outlook of the franchise.

With that timeline in mind, here are eight draft-eligible prospects who fit the profile: long-term upside, positional value, and alignment with the Blues’ identity.

Logan Hensler, D, Wisconsin (NCAA)

6’2”, 195 lbs, Right Shot | 2024–25 Stats: 2 goals, 12 points and a -13 in his first 32 NCAA games

I would be more than happy with Henry Brzustewicz as MN highlighted the other day. I didn't watch a lot of London but you can see this player's hockey sense is MILES ahead of Fiddler. Be mindful these are just some higher end plays. When you watch deeply you see it all so this doesn't have that perspective included. But the high end of his game is exactly what we want he reminds me of a RHD young Nick Leddy when I watch this:

Carbonneau is my top forward for "player I somehow hope drops but won't" because I would like another Holloway on RW please

Kindel is in the model of "slightly smaller Schwartz" I would say

Meanwhile, prospects the same age that are picked TOP5 will be starting next year in the NHL. But don't look there, St Louis. That is NOT FOR YOU!

St louis gets the prospects that "blossom like Perunovich", 8 years of forecasted sunshine, followed by a love and kisses train out of town.

Are you having a tantrum? Because seriously man, can you restrict it to your one thread about it. Gotta [shirt] everywhere today eh?

No, you're just someone who wants to irritate the same 100 people in multiple threads with this same utter [fork]ing R argument, just to get a rise out of people because you have a wound that isn't healed in your life.

I am saying please keep it to the one thread daily if you have to, we actually want to talk about this. We know you need attention, we truly all do.

I like Hensler more than Brusty(not typing that whole thing out) but I'd be pretty happy with either. I think they both profile pretty close to Lindstein(defense oriented #3 types) and I'll gladly take that with a 19th overall pick.

I actually like Cootes/Reschny/Kindel(simply because there's the possibility that they could be developed as a center instead of automatically tossed on the wing) more than Carbonneau but I'd be content with any of them. With Kindel in particular, I think the playmaking tends to get under-rated because of his motor and advanced defensive game. I could pretty easily see him developing into something close to Thomas.

Side note; why can't you guys just put the idiot troll on ignore? At least stop quoting it so the rest of us don't have to mess with its nonsense.

I don't like posting any more than you like reading it. It was important to provide more clarity around this statement in the post.

Thank you.
Smell of pot can you seriously stop posting. Enough.

How about more beef---big tough winger for 3rd line--Lynden Lakovic
Another piece in a large puzzle.

-1 for smelly grass, another "fail". +2 for Seattle Blue, sums it up accurately.

I have a slight preference for Brzustewicz over Hensler but like both at 19. Hensler is a jack of all trades, master of none type IMO. He didn’t shine at Wisconsin as much as I thought he would this season but at the same time, it can be hard to break out as a college freshman sometimes, especially at defense. So he wouldn’t be my first pick but I could also see him being a steady defensive d-man. Not flashy, not a needle mover but a guy that would have a solid NHL career. Brzustewicz I think is underrated. I see a lot of translatable skills on both the offensive and defensive sides.

I like Carbonneau, particularly his skill but I question his hockey sense a bit. Kindel I think he a bit underrated as well. Highly skilled, smart and works hard. But always cautious when the player is 5’10”. Are we getting a Schwartz or a Fabbri? Heck, replay Fabbri’s career where his knee isn’t shredded twice and I bet it ends up pretty similar to Schwartz’s. That’s what makes projecting these kids so hard. You don’t really know what the future holds. But 5’10” players simply have fewer paths to be able to make an impact. But at 19, he’s certainly a consideration.

Will say I respect Mike Meyers work. He does a very good job of covering our prospects in all leagues on twitter. I believe he recently joined that stlsportshub media thing randy karraker is with now.

The article also mentions Bill Zonnon and Cameron Reid. Of the two, I like Reid a bit better. Good two-way d-man. Not too dissimilar to Brzustewicz tbh. But he’s a 6’0” lefty so that dissipates my interest somewhat. But if he’s deemed BPA, then go for it.

I like Zonnon a little more than most I think. I think he’s a little overlooked being in the Q. But he also doesn’t jump off the page for me. I see him more around 20-25 but wouldn’t be downright disappointed if he was the pick at 19.

Not a fan of Lakovic though. The size and skill are evident but he’s soft and I don’t see a high compete level. Reminds me of a Logan Brown or Zach Sanford type.

No they won't.

There's a chance that 1 of them will...that's all.
