Canada v slokakia
Anyone going to be tuning in to see how dvorsky can rise to the occasion and stand out? I know his team doesnt stand a chance. But I’ll probably tune in to see if he rises to the big stage like the one journalist that had him ranked 3rd said.

He must have not done very well in the 7-0 loss to Canada as they didn't have him in the lineup today against Latvia. I only saw the highlight of one of the goals against while he was on the ice and on that play he didn't stay with Crosby and he ended up getting an easy goal.

I’m glad Dvorsky played in this tournament and hopefully had an eye opener to the areas of his game he needs to work on. I think it will help his future with the Blues.

Dvorsky's coach on his benching...
“‘Dalo’ is a generational talent,” the Slovak coach began, as reported by Dominik Dubovči of Hokej.cz. “One day, if he does things right and is well-adjusted – which I think he is – he will be the leader of the national team. But we cannot consider young Dalibor a leader right now. He is in his first World Championship and he played in a junior league last year.
“He hasn’t grown into that role yet. He still lacks a lot of things to be there. We decided to leave him in the stands because he was struggling with shooting, he wasn’t getting chances and he had quite significant problems on defense. He also needs to work on his physical play.
“This is a huge learning process for him. He’s great on the power play, but here the opponents read him and quickly got to him. We also want to protect him from the pressure. He understands that, in short, and he’ll be ready for the next game. But we can’t expect a 19-year-old kid to be a difference-maker here.”
it was uncertain whether he’d be playing. Then he was coming, but nobody was sure exactly when. On Thursday, Dalibor Dvorský revealed to Slovak media his timetable for the next few days.
Dvorský has one assist in five games for Slovakia this tournament, but nobody on the team has more than two points. The Slovaks’ struggles are not a big surprise as no full-time NHLers are on the team. The most experienced player on the team is San Jose Sharks prospect Pavol Regenda, who has 19 NHL games under his belt. Dvorský played two for the Blues this season.

Tough love works.
Re: Canada v slokakia
Pretty much mirrors the scouting report I've given all season on his play in the AHL. Great on pp, very good puck skills, but hardly noticeable 5v5. Plays too slow, not strong defensively.John Cocktoastin wrote: ↑19 May 2025 11:25 am Dvorsky's coach on his benching...

Sounds like Army's looking for a #2 center. Doesn't sound like DD is ready for the big show just yet.

No, he’s not. And that’s fine. He’s 19. You simply can’t go into the season with Dvorsky penciled into your top-9. If he forces his way onto the roster then great. And there’s always injuries so he’ll likely get a chance when that happens too.
He just needs to keep developing. Agreed he was much more dangerous on the PP than 5 on 5 this season. Going from Jrs to pro hockey is said to be the hardest jump in the game and he did pretty well IMO. 2nd highest scoring teenager in the AHL this season. He’s developing just fine IMO but he still needs some more time before he’s NHL ready.
But nice praise from the head coach there. Said he’s generational and will one day be the leader of the Slovak National Team. Not sure I can agree with the assessment of generational but that could also be something lost in translation or him being very Slovakia specific.
