Good morning.

Best record in baseball 31-16. They are 14-11 on the road. We are 15-6 at home.

We miss a stud Jobe, but get Shubal Olsen and Flahtery, probably.

They hit. Their entire starting nine hits at about .280 or better. Two players with double digits home runs- Greene 11, Torkelson 12.

They have three hitters with 40 hits or more, three with 81 or better total bases.

Staff. Whips of 1.31 or better per pitcher. Jack still has a K/9 at 10.8. He also leads in walks and homeruns at 10. Each pitcher goes about six.

Manager A.J. Hinch. Experienced.

Most times I believe you win 2/3 at home. Still do. However, some series you just hope to scrap by. This may be one.

For us who now believe that the games played is sample enough, playing the best in baseball is yet another measuring stick.

Enjoy.

We go with Gray Fedde and P. I expect several 4-3 type games.

I think Olson just pitched, so right now it’s TBD. But Skubal and Flaherty to follow. Skubal is probably the best pitcher in baseball and another LHP, so that should be fun. Led the AL in Strikeouts, wins, and ERA last year. He’s got the best K/BB ratio in baseball this year. He’s struck out 10+ in 3 of his last 4 starts.

I like when we match up against the better teams. It's a true test of whether or not we are competitive. The Birds have definitely playing better for about the last 3 weeks. Now really need to keep it up against the Tigers. I hope the fans show up en masse. I will, indeed, enjoy.

Cardinals have been pretty good this year vs top flight starters but as you said, Skubal may be the best they're going to face all year.

Cardinals are the 7th toughest team to strikeout, Skubal is a KO monster...... somethings got to give.

He will get his share. A good strategy would be to get him early maybe limit his duration.

One thing they've been very good at is seeing a lot of pitches, another good strategy which would drive his pitch count up if successful.

18-20 pitches per inning could see him gone after five!

95 pitches seems to be his "yanked" point (96 pitches is his tops this season).

I’m a little older now but I seem to remember their pitchers don’t field their position very well, so bunt, bunt, bunt!
