I'm surprised he lumps Pallante in with a to-date failure like Gorman (1126 AB, -0.3 WAR), the unreliable Burleson (1027 AB, 0.1 WAR), or the young guys who haven't played much. Pallante (0.5 WAR) has little in common with any of them. Maybe Burleson, I guess.

It's great to have a high celing (like Wetherholt, for example, who is deservedly #5) but baseball is really hard, and there's a lot to be said for a guy who can do it in the big leagues. Pallante isn't great but he's good enough to make a big league roster RIGHT NOW. Not for his projections or ceiling, but for what he can do on the mound today.

Replace their ages with 34 (Gorman, Burleson, Pallante moreso than the kids) and then ask who would want them at all, let alone to be an every day player? Pallante is a Yes. A mediocre yes, sure, but he makes it, nonetheless.

You know, I think I'd be okay with all this if Gorman were just dropped from the list. If he makes it, great. We all want that to happen--and it still might.
But there's zero evidence that he will, his ceiling is not as high as Walker's, and his "fix" is not as simple as Walker's. Also he's 3 years older.
Can you imagine anybody wanting him as part of a trade? I can't. If he has no trade value then he probably isn't an honorable mention for "most valuable."

It's hard to imagine a trade for Burleson (26 years old) either, for that matter. But at least he looks close. Not to stardom, just to being a productive everyday player who pulls his own weight.

You didn't miss much.

Walker ahead of McGreevy and guys like Hurdy Gurdy & Noot are on the list. I mean, is 28 considered "young" in MLB?

A lot to like, for sure. Seems Wetherholt could be another Donovan-type player. And that would be just fine. Lofty praise for Herrera at #1. Ex. "Herrera may be the best position player the Cardinals have produced in over a decade".

We need to do a lot better than just fine with our number five pick this year.

Where is our next MVP candidate going to come from?

Seth Hernandez might have the highest ceiling in the draft. Hope he's there for the Cardinals.

I’d list Saggese and Pallante before Walker

These MSN links are on par with the trash on the bottom of SI's home page. Pallante is 26, 27 in September. That's young?

And Donovan is 28 and Nootbaar is 27. I guess, the list, probably should be 25 and under to be considered young players.

Those aren't young players, Noot is almost 28.
