Heck no he does NOT deserve so many AB's. this is historically when Burly becomes a big factor on club and he deserves the PT. Sure play walker 3 days a week but NOT every dang day! Can't stand to see him roll and easy grounder for outs or Striking out way too much.

Personally I would send him back to Memphis as this team is going places and let him develop his stroke with no pressure and everyday AB's.

Burleson is too good a player and can't be DH now with Herrera back and raking. imagine how much better an offense with him in lineup than Mr Ofer?

Oli I am sure is under orders from mgt and that was fine when they were merely planning on phoning it in. But now?
Burly's negative defense as an OF'er negates any offensive upside he brings, thus his +0.1 bWAR so far this season, and that's w/o him playing in the OF hardly at all. If he had been getting JW's OF playing time and produced the same offense as he has so far, he'd once again be significantly in the negative range.
Historically? What, his one summer last year? SSS. He needs a combo of DH and 1B to have a decent chance to be more than just another guy on the fringe of MLB. Needs better plate discipline and more power, but he's currently not near the 1B Contreras is, and he's not near the DH Herrera is. He'd be an ok bench/role player, but there's guys at Memphis who would bring more value to the team right now than AB can imo.
As far as Walker, IDK, but great to see him with the big hit last night. Kinda looked like he was surprised how the ball left his bat. Maybe that moment could be interpreted optimistically as a light bulb went off. Like OK, that's what they've been working with me on.
Too many variables to make any kind of informed guess, but hoping for mid double digits. Needs to find the .700 OPS range to be a positive contributor, more like a current Arenado type bat.

119 HRs

He will hit one in every game that is left on the season after today.

If allowed to play every day: 19. Falls just short of 20 after a mid-to-late season surge but regains confidence and starts having fun again and rides that into next year, his first big year.

If relegated to part time due to performance and Oli’s Burly love: 8

It is critical to let this young man get consistent reps to develop or we’re going to watch him go do it somewhere else. No on will trade much for him at the moment, but there’s not a team out there that wouldn’t take a flyer on him if released or offered up for a bucket of balls.
Agree. He absolutely cannot sit every time we see a right-handed pitcher. We won't know what he can do until he sees his name pencilled in nearly every game!

He could fail. Certainly could happen.

But....

IF he ever figures it out we could have (eventually) a guy who hits 30+ HR with 40+ doubles.
He has twice as many ABs vs righties than lefties

This Burly you're slobbering over...

Same guy who can't run, is horrendous in the OF, currently has a 96 OPS+ with a 95 career OPS+ in well over 1,000 ABs? This is guy we HAVE to have in the lineup?
JW slobber by you has to end..

He has a 48 OPS+. Down from last years 71.

Blind squirrel probably gets till the 60th game or so to show any kind of figuring it out. He's been horrible

ramfandan wrote: 18 May 2025 07:51 am Before you shoot from the hip, here are some stats to consider in formulating your prediction.

2025 has played in 38 of the 46 games.. 3 HRs

2024 season played total 51 games.. 5 HRs

2023 played in 117 games… 16 HRs

There are 116 games left in 2025. So guesstimate how many of the 116 he will play in formulating your prediction

Good luck!
Terrible question. It depends on how much interference Brant Brown and Mo decide to inflict on Jordan. It's to the point where he needs to be traded. Kid is the next Dave Winfield and STL does NOT understand what they have. Trade Jordan NOW

Yes, that's what you stated. My bad for misunderstanding. Weird how his replacement plated the only run

The sad thing is he has just 1 fewer homerun and 3 fewer rbi than Arenado in 45 fewer plate appearances and oli is so dumb he still refuses to move Arenado from hitting clean up

Technically, Burly was not his replacement...Nootbaar was. As I stated previously, I'd of given Contreras a day off at first and started both Walker and Burly.

And...yes, Burly crushed a home run. He was also 1-4 and grounded into a critical double play.

The problem with giving Walker more starts against RHP is that Gorman will have even fewer options for PT. Gorman has only two starts in the last 10 days.

This was always gonna be the problem with "reset/runway" for Walker/Gorman combined with still trying to compete. It was not hard to predict that one or both players' runway would suffer, and here we are seeing it not even two months into the season.

Nobody can seriously claim that Nolan Gorman has been given any significant sort of runway so far this season.

Absolutely. It's why the inability to trade Nado was so disappointing. Gorman won't be Nado at third, but he looks very comfortable there and has a real nice arm.

Will he figure out the hitting? Probably not if he's riding pine.
