Gotta assume BBrown et al are working assiduously with the unicorn day after day. FWIW.

Re: Gorman?
Gorman had logged time at 2nd and for Nado rest days at 3rd.
Now that Donnie full time 2nd, Gorman lost that spot when Donnie played some LF.
Herrera hogs all the DH .
Unsure on sending him down but I could see Mo/Bloom
Packaging Gorman in a July 30th trade deadline deal.

Re: Gorman?
That’s really the only idea ive seen posted that makes sense. He’s fine in the role he is in. People love to turn this team into a little league team. All the players need some playing time!ramfandan wrote: ↑18 May 2025 10:39 am Gorman had logged time at 2nd and for Nado rest days at 3rd.

All teams have, and need bench players. Typically don't get a lot of PT. If they could get a decent return, I'd trade him. Otherwise, he's good on the bench. Would be zero contributor in the minors.Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑18 May 2025 10:46 amSend him down or trade him at this point if Oli won't play him.

Re: Gorman?
Burleson (last 50 AB's: .320 .346 .520 .866) has bypassed him for PA's.
If Oli's not going to use him more than once, maybe twice a week.
Then I agree w/the OP, send him down so he can get AB's.

Re: Gorman?
If Gorman hits his defense would be “passable”.
Again...if he hits for power his speed on the bases would be “passable”.
As I see it he has one tool and that is power.
And it’s not like they are desperate for a LH bat:
Donovan
Noot
Scott
Burleson(yes as a bench/platoon bat)
JJ on the way
Crooks on the way
Frankly if Arenado stays I see no fit for Gorman.
If Arenado is moved you can do:
3B- Donovan
2B- JJ, Saggese, Prieto
DH- Herrera(Burly LH if needed)
OF- whoever doesn’t factor in at 2B can be used in corner OF. Also if Arenado is moved there should be $$ available to look at a FA OF.
*Almost forgot- Chase Davis hits LH.

Re: Gorman?
I agree. Is it harder to learn on the fly with sporadic ABs? Yes. Is being in the big leagues better than most jobs? Yes. He can suck it up and do his best to fill his current role and be ready to step in when injury inevitably becomes a factor. No need to force him in the lineup for fear of lack of development.Alex Reyes Cy Young wrote: ↑18 May 2025 11:28 amThat’s really the only idea ive seen posted that makes sense. His job is practice and study hard and play in garbage time. Or play against occasional starters who just can’t get lefties out and PH under similar circumstances. Other than that, he gets a front row seat and a fat paycheck. Not a bad deal. If he’s sulking, I’d run him off in a hot minute.
I’ve held JW to a different standard because he’s playing a position of need and fielding it well. If Nado were to go down, Gorman would get a much longer leash/runway/whatever.

Re: Gorman?
Send him down hes not playing and he shouldn’t play at this point and he has become a zero tool player at this point because he doesn’t even hit for power anymore so his contributions off the bench will be nothing. It’s a long shot he figures it out in the minors but I think it’s the only shot for him to turn it around

IF he were to play well n Memphis, it may enhance his trade value.RamFan08NY wrote: ↑18 May 2025 11:35 amAll teams have, and need bench players. Typically don't get a lot of PT. he's an adequate backup for 2nd and 3rd. doesn't make much. not hurting the team

Re: Gorman?
Not entirely accurate as he has a very strong arm and last I checked was playing above average defense in 2025.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑18 May 2025 11:47 am Send him down hes not playing and he shouldn’t play at this point and he has become a zero tool player at this point because he doesn’t even hit for power anymore so his contributions off the bench will be nothing. Of course, it's all about his bat...if Oli won't play him either trade him or send him down in order to enhance his trade value.
Re: Gorman?
The challenge is 3 fold.
One, the pitchers and staff rightly do not trust Herrera to catch.
Two, the team is still stuck with N/A since he refused to report to Houston.
Three, The Marmot is an extremely poor long-term strategist who is prone to incorrect snap judgements.
That is what has put Gorman in a bit of a crunch.
The CORRECT BASEBALL DECISION, of course, is to play him.
Fact is, Gorman, N/A, Walker, Burleson have all be nearly identical in production.
Plenty of PA's to go around.
All that is required is the intelligence and willingness to do so.
