The Blues should avoid getting themselves into situations where positions have to be desperately filled for the sake of winning of few more games for the next year.
If they acquire a veteran 2C now, here is what will happen...
- Overpay for the veteran
- Sign the veteran for longer than they should
- Staff the position with a good, but not great player
- Delay the intro of Dvorsky by years. We won't find out if he is the eventual 2C or another Perunovich
Instead, the Blues should put Dvorsky in there and sink or swim. If that needs to be delayed by 6 months, then just make do with existing players. Yes, we will likely not attain the 5%-better goal, but we either swim with Dvorsky or get a higher draft pick because of where the team is. Adding costly veterans does nothing but delay substantial improvement and hide holes.
Re: Army's next move of Desperation (Filling the 2C)
lol. They've done an outstanding job a bringing this group of young players into the fold: Neighbours, Bolduc, and now Snuggerud. Each on a different trajectory to the big club. And if they decide the 19 year old Dvorsky needs more seasoning there's no reason not to trust their judgment.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑15 May 2025 06:12 am Instead, the Blues should put Dvorsky in there and sink or swim. As regards signing or acquiring a No 2 / 3 center... It won't delay Dvorsky's entry into the NHL whatsoever. When they decide to bring him up they can slot him wherever they want and either move Schenn to wing or C3 or 4. And the same would hold true with Sundqvist, wing or center on 3rd or 4th line. And this would apply even if they resign Faksa. And do you really think if they end up with a glut of centers they couldn't off-load one when needed?
Logic lesson over. Troll on.

So basically. Whatever Army has done or will do. Has been great, and will be the greatest.TBone wrote: ↑15 May 2025 07:01 amlol. It's not hard for me to not respond to certain threads, but as others have said, it can get to be too much. I suggest a compromise. Instead of using paragraphs, just use a sentence or two.
Re: Army's next move of Desperation (Filling the 2C)
Who said Army hasn't made mistakes? I could point to several regarding our defensemen. That said, I think he's been wildly successful on stockpiling talent on this youth movement and I'll trust the club's judgment on when to promote Dvorsky.Cahokanut wrote: ↑15 May 2025 09:20 amSo basically. I also think the most likely option Armstrong takes to acquire another center (minus a major trade) is a minor trade for a veteran with a couple of years on his contract at reasonable dollars since my guess is they've already earmarked money for Broberg, Holloway and Fowler. And as previously stated, adding another center would in no way delay Dvorsky's arrivial since both Schenn and Sundqvist can easily kick over to wing or down a line.
Do you disagree with this? Or what exactly has Armstrong effed up on since the youth movement started?

Re: Army's next move of Desperation (Filling the 2C)
I think it's a given that Fowler who has been vocal about wanting to stay is going to get some kind of extension, Holloway has said many times in random interviews that he was shocked by how much he likes it here so he should be an easy sign. The only one that hasn't said really anything publicly is Broberg. But he was the one that was vocally upset in Edmonton so getting the big role that he gets in STL probably makes him happy. Faksa we have only heard from Army's perspective that they have already had conversations.TBone wrote: ↑15 May 2025 15:29 pmWho said Army hasn't made mistakes? I think the extensions for Broberg/Holloway are no doubters, it's just a matter of term. Are they going to take the long guarantee or are they going to bet on themselves to go bank and take like a 3 year extension.

And I've mentioned this more than once but you should have seen his act on current affairs. You think this nonsense is bad, it was a giant joke over there. His schtick there was and impending civil war. Always touting it and his tag line (much like his army tag lines here) was "Choose your side wisely." He denies it but he's lying, like he does here. I know there are others here who can verify. I'm guessing batolli saw it when he posted there. Brummer for sure saw it. There is a chance that Burton and Aesa remember. Just paints a good pic of what you are dealing with.
And it's never going to stop. It's like the infected in Last of Us. It's just going to continue to spawn.
