Gruden is a piece of work. 33 years ago when I lived in Wisconsin , Head Coach Mike Holmgren brought Gruden to be off. asst/receivers coach .
He was 28 years old Remember back then how surprised fans were to see this 'kid' be an NFL assistant. Talk about intensity , preparation,
motivation ..wow ! A pretty rare bird !

Well, I remember him being friends with Tony Larussa and looked up articles to confirm that. Says he used to meet with Larussa every spring when he was with St. Louis.

Also, looks like Gruden coached at SEMO in 1988. Not sure if it goes back that far though.
