As long as the pitching holds up

Post by OldRed »

Hello from Las Vegas. As long as the pitching holds up they can play Walker and Gorman. Scott has been a blessing and after a slow start Contreras and Winn are playing to their potential. Who would have thought 9 wins in a row?

Longest winning streak since our 17 gamer I believe.

Keep it going tonight with Gray on the mound.

At least 7 players in the regular lineup have a 110+ OPS+. If Pozo catches then it is 8 players.

After they Winn tonight they will tie 6 other Cardinal teams at 10. If they win 11, they will have that slot to them selves and 13. No team in cards history has stopped on 11 or 13.

Having been scored upon seven times in 63 innings is killer. That’s one time a game for seven games that the opposition scored, and then only two or less runs.

Strong.

and don't forget 'DEFENSE" . Some of those scoreless innings the 'pitcher' gets credit for on his ERA is possible by Scott II running down a ball in the gap for an out that other CF couldn't get to and end up a double . Nado at 3rd making a brilliant play , Donovan diving stops between 1st and 2nd ..
Walker sprinting to make a game-ending catch .

If the Cardinals had just an 'average' defense , you would see many more runs scored ..thus people say 'Oh the pitchers aren't that good ..Look at the runs THEY are allowing. !

Many don’t seem to truly appreciate this. Defense should be embraced as this team’s strength and left alone.
