Re: Poll : 2025 MLB Draft #5 Pick
I went with Arnold. But I'd be just as happy with Hernandez.
Either way, we ain't picking any higher than 10 next year regardless of how good/bad we do. Let's shoot for the moon.

I went with Holiday. I'm probably crazy, but I think there will be a run on pitchers and a surprise pick. Holiday drops to #5 and the slugger becomes our future star third sacker or left fielder.
I can dream, can I not?

Jace LaViolette is the slugger that may be available at #5. True 30+ HR power and plays a good OF. Also could be a quick riser through the system.Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑13 May 2025 15:31 pm I went with Holiday. No doubt. Boom or Bust! Is he the next Bryce Harper or the next Dylan Carlson? If I knew the answer, I'd tell you. If he's a guy like Harper, we need to take him. But after Carlson, Gorman, and Walker, I'm a bit scared.Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑13 May 2025 15:41 pmJace LaViolette is the slugger that may be available at #5. True 30+ HR power and plays a good OF. I'm also scared of Jace LaViolette, but didn't folks have the same concern about the other big-dawg, Jac Caglianone, last year when he dropped to 6th? Cags was probably higher-rated, but similar-sized guys with great college production. Cags looks pretty MLB-ready to me in a short time. LaViolette isn't having as great a season as his first two, but he plays a good CF for a 6'6" 230 lb guy -- and steals bases.Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑13 May 2025 15:48 pmNo doubt. Boom or Bust! I like Arquette because of his size, power potential, and overall athleticism. And his right handed bat.
One of the best hitters in the draft. And as said, would move him to an OF corner.
Re: Poll : 2025 MLB Draft #5 Pick
did you finally submit your Vote for Arquette? Or did you vote from someone else originally ?

I limited my vote to someone I thought might be available at #5.craviduce wrote: ↑13 May 2025 17:02 pmdid you finally submit your Vote for Arquette? Or did you vote from someone else originally ?

don't worry about it, Cranny. You're missing my point. And at no time was I accusing you of anything nefarious. So let's just let it go.Cranny wrote: ↑13 May 2025 17:13 pmI limited my vote to someone I thought might be available at #5.craviduce wrote: ↑13 May 2025 17:02 pmdid you finally submit your Vote for Arquette? I thought you might've made a mistake. Because Arquette had zero votes when you said you picked him. I was hoping you didn't select the wrong person....that's all

They all "might" be available at number 5. Who knows.Cranny wrote: ↑13 May 2025 17:13 pmI limited my vote to someone I thought might be available at #5.craviduce wrote: ↑13 May 2025 17:02 pmdid you finally submit your Vote for Arquette? Or did you vote from someone else originally ?

Re: Poll : 2025 MLB Draft #5 Pick
I don’t think there’s any way that Holliday will be there. MLB.com has Arquette as the #5 draft prospect. The Athletic has him at #4. I’m surprised he hasn’t gotten more votes on here. Maybe it’s because he’s a SS and Winn has that position sewed up for years to come. My thought is to have him coming through the system as an OF replacement for Walker if things don’t pick up for him. Arquette is supposed to be one of the best college bats, and possibly the best all around college position player in the draft.Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑13 May 2025 17:44 pmThey all "might" be available at number 5. Re: Poll : 2025 MLB Draft #5 Pick
yeah, he's probably the best college hitter...and a tier below the Top 6 college hitters in last years draft. That's why most people aren't excited about him...at #7 last year we got an A tier JJ Wetherholt...a 60/80 grade player. At best Arquette is a 55/80.Cranny wrote: ↑13 May 2025 17:55 pmI don’t think there’s any way that Holliday will be there. MLB.com has Arquette as the #5 draft prospect. The Athletic has him at #4. the pitching is just that much better this season.
Re: Poll : 2025 MLB Draft #5 Pick
Understand. Sometimes I make the mistake of drafting for need. Right now we’re sorely lacking forcraviduce wrote: ↑13 May 2025 18:00 pmyeah, he's probably the best college hitter...and a tier below the Top 6 college hitters in last years draft. position players in the system with some pop.
And a good college player can probably arrive sooner than a high school player. I was also probably overly enamored with the thought of JJ hitting from the left side and Arquette hitting from the right side some day.
Re: Poll : 2025 MLB Draft #5 Pick
you did fine....there's no clear favorite. Arquette is the best college hitter and he should move a quick pace through the minors.Cranny wrote: ↑13 May 2025 18:07 pmUnderstand.
