George Zipp wrote: 13 May 2025 08:18 am I feel like it is the Oil or bust for the cup for Canada. I suppose we can't rule out the Leafs but I'm not so sure they get out of this series and even if they do Carolina is one of the most talented under the radar teams in a long time. I've watched several of their playoff games, and even with my lack of knowledge, they sure seem like a handful to play against and have a ton of speed and skill and the special teams are outstanding. Best thing that can happen for the Leafs is they win and the Caps come back. I'm not understanding how the Caps got the top seed. They look average at best most of the playoffs. They look to be playing on borrowed money and the bank is about to close. I just don't see the Jets doing a thing with they way Helly has settled in on the road in crunch time or anytime really. He's just been brutal and Dallas just looks better.
That's kinda been Carolina's MO these past 4 or 5 seasons.

Dominate the first 2 rounds, completely forget how to play hockey in the 3rd round.

Maybe this year is different, but I wouldn't put money on it.
Plus Freddie Andersen has to stay healthy. That’s far from certain.
Exactly. Great goaler, brittle as glass.

LOL...

I was in the USAF in 93, and we were (upset) that the admin folks just got Word Perfect on their new 386DX/33's. We were still stuck using manual typewriters because it was the only machine that could get thru all five carbons on our After-Op reports...

Ha, I used MultiMate. WordPerfect vs Multimate was the Apple vs Android of the day. Microsoft eventualliy figgered out they could bundle their products with Windows and shut out third party software. Goodbye Multimage, goodbyt WordPerfect and a lot of other superior products.

What???
There were still 7 minutes left even if they counted that goal. Lot of time for Tampa to tie it up.

Certainly should have been reviewed though. It looked in.

Also Calgary could have scored in OT, or they could have won Game 7. Thems the breaks.

Aaahhhhhh……now it makes sense! Forgot all about that, but guessing people in Calgary have not!

A good goal not counted by the NHL isn’t a them the breaks moment. One of the biggest screw ups in playoff history

Blue, I read your post and thought what the heck, why do people always throw around 1993 then. But Tampa beat Calgary in 7 games that year.
Because they were jobbed in game 6 when they scored the winning goal but it was reversed... Lot of bitter feelings about that here.

Good and interesting points.

One correction, however:
Actually, the Blues were playing in the St. Louis Arena in 1993. It was only called the Checkerdome from 1977-1983. Thank God. I’m glad Ralston Purina saved the team in 1977, but HATED the Checkerdome name.
