Have you changed your mind

Post by Jatalk »

If you are (were) like me and want to trade NA are you close to (or have) changed your mind?

With failure of Gorman who would play third if no NA? Donovan could. Bring up Saggese ( not sure) ?

I’m starting to think we keep him which sickens me. Perhaps trade him for replacement at 3rd.

If you never wanted to trade him your response does not count.

Not really. I think there are better uses of the money. The team is playing well now but with six weeks before they have to make the decision I’d see how they perform against a tougher schedule.

Not much of an answer, sorry.

I haven’t. I said the team is better with NA on third.

I haven’t. He shouldn’t be here the rest of the three years but if they keep him this season that’s fine. Saggese and JJ are coming Arenado is a glove first guy at this point. Hopefully oli gets smart and moves him out of the clean up spot and moves contreras and Herrera up

Keep Nado, trade Gorman.
Not against trading Gorman but not sure he is worth a sack of flour at this point.

Nope

Always been in the "don't just give him away to put money in BDWjr's pocket" camp.

And I only deal him if the offer is overwhelming and NADO has asked to be traded.

(I'm NOT sold on Norman being the answer at 3rd base and the others like Donovan or JJ down the road really don't fit at 3rd base which needs to be a position for a power bat)

Reset. Cut the contracts. We cut only one. Got three to go. Stay the course. Cut the youth off season. Add on super star. Play 2026.

I agree on Gorman but Arenado isn’t a power bat anymore Donovan has two more doubles than Arenado and just 1 fewer homerun and Arenado hit just 16 HRs last season

16 Cardinal teams have won nine straight. 6 have won ten straight. 3 have won twelve straight. 1 has won 14 and 17 each.

Of course not but his is age related, when we first acquired him (2021-2023: 90 HR's/301 RBI's) he was indeed that 3rd base power bat.

Donovan isn't the right fit, neither is JJ.

Hopefully Bloom can find a power bat either at 3rd base or in RF.

His contract is not that bad and he still makes contact drives in runs and plays good defense. Maybe it'll work out to have him around long enough to hand over 3B to Wetherholt (if that's where the Cardinals decide to play JJ). Towards the end perhaps Arenado sees more DH time.

If there's any legitimate complaint I think they should be open to dropping him to 6th in the lineup. Contreras 4 and Herrera 5 right now would be ideal. Not to mention Donovan has really cooled off since his hot start, with a .631 OPS last 14 days. You probably could get away with Contreras 3, Herrera 4, Donovan 5, and Arenado 6.

In my reset, this off season, with new monies, we aquire either a - stud third baseman- stud outfielder, but with Scott and Herrera that might be priority three- and a LEAGUE level Ace.

I’m not debating he used to be but he’s not anymore. I agree hopefully bloom gets a power bat for third. I just think at this point arenados offense has slipped to hes replaceable levels if he were a team leader maybe you keep him but he’s not. Keeping him this year is fine but not the whole contract just my opinion

That's what is need BDog, that true MOTO bat that plays 3rd base or in the OF (easier said than done, right?).

I fear BDWJr will continue his payroll cutting ways, will he go under $130M in 2026?

Could happen if he draws under 2.5M this season.
