May has been very kind to the poderoso elenco sanluiseno. Tops in baseball.

I always wondered what metal meant. Thanx I stand corrected.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑12 May 2025 10:07 amHopefully it's not overconfident to believe the Cards can hold their own at home. Thus, it's the next 6 I'm concerned about. 3-3 in Philly and KC would be a success. Even 2-4 wouldn't be disastrous. Now, if they're over .500 in these 2 series, it's time to consider reprioritizing the season.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑12 May 2025 08:47 am Good morning.
This in my estimation will test our metal. I think this will mold our season. Takes us to 53 games on the season. One third. Plenty of sample size.
Not the Dodger. Or Padres. Or Yanks. But…
Phillies 11-4 last 15. Division leader. WS contender.
Royals. Division leader?
Tigers . Division leader?
DBacks- no shut outs here.
We pull a 6 win out of these 12 will be sufficient. Then we go to Baltimore, a wounded duck, and Texas.
Big 12 game stretch.
Oh, and just FYI... it's "mettle," not metal. I used to make that mistake all the time.![]()

Man, you're looking way ahead, which I appreciate btw. Thanks.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑12 May 2025 09:55 amThen from now till July 6, is a killer stretch. 24 games against leagues best, and 17 more in the division.
That said, hoping the Cards are just taking it one game at a time.
They needed this streak. Fans are noticing.

Yea too far. The point is, as you noted is, the road ahead is tough, and gets tougher as you go it seems. Never the break of- it’s tomorrow. Tomorrow never comes.JDW wrote: ↑12 May 2025 10:17 amMan, you're looking way ahead, which I appreciate btw. So with that in mind, focus solely one your nightly opponent. That’s plenty of look ahead.

Pretty easy to see Mo/Bloom will have a good idea whether their sellers or holders (I don't see BDWJr allowing them any money for additions even if they're close to the NLC lead like they are now) at the end of the stretch.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑12 May 2025 09:26 amYea, our stretch through June 8 is a pretty tough one.rockondlouie wrote: ↑12 May 2025 09:13 am Yikes

7-5 would be solid, I'll go w/that.
@ PHI (3)
@ KC (3)
vs DET (3)
Vs AZ (3)
@ BAL (3)
@ TEX (3)
Vs KC (3)
Vs LAD (3)
Even after that we have 3 vs Toronto and 4 @ Milwaukee.

They need that one "stud bat" in 2026, a MOTO thumper ala Goldy his first four years here (.291 .376 .516 .892/143 OPS+).sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑12 May 2025 09:27 amThe free play to see what we got is working. Lose a game to a sub pitcher, next game you face the Ace. Gotta beat the beatables.
I don't see an "extended" losing streak w/the way the starting pitching is throwing, bullpen too.
Add in this team also plays great defense and they may be a lot better than many thought this spring.
Sadly Bloom will rid one of Walker or Gorman, depending on which field, infield or outfield, becomes most crowded.
These aren’t Blooms children, they’re BeBe’s kids.
Not sure it will be "sadly" dumping Gorman and/or Walker (and I don't see them dealing Walker anytime before 2027).
Bloom has a track record at TB and then Boston showing he has an eye for talent (Libby was his guy in TB) and if he thinks one or both may never amount to much, then we may be able to trust his judgement unlike Mo's who was wrong too many times.
But as I said before and you've picked up on, Bloom has no skin in the game when it comes to either since they're Mo's guys and not his.

That no love lost mentality will bode well in decisions like this.rockondlouie wrote: ↑12 May 2025 11:03 amThey need that one "stud bat" in 2026, a MOTO thumper ala Goldy his first four years here (.291 .376 .516 .892/143 OPS+).sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑12 May 2025 09:27 amThe free play to see what we got is working. This has been fun to watch but...
I stick by the refresh concept. Don't tank but don't let the thrill of short-term wins screw over building a WS team. They can't win the WS, or go far, so use this year to develop and build a team for the future?
1. Trades - Fedde, Matz, Nado, Helsey and one of the catchers. (Miko and Burly won't bring anything, so they may be stuck here.)
2. With those players gone, this season is clearly done, but we'd kick ourselves if they lost them all with nothing to show.
3. Develop the kids as best as possible. McGreevy as SP; Graceffo as late-inning guy, etc.

Bloom comes in w/no horse in the race since their failure will always fall on Mo and Oli.
And if they succeed, then he'll be hailed a genius for rehabilitating them!
Win-Win for the new man.
Re: Next 12 Games- Phillies Royals Tigers DBacks
Look at what the NL division leaders have done the last 10 games
Mets. 5-5
Cubs 5-5
Dodgers 6-4
So 2 of the 3 playing .500 ball
Don’t necessarily expect more wins than losses in our next 10 games.
Playing .500 May actually be a good stretch considering the opponents.
