Don't overlook the defense

In baseball, fans probably comment first about offense, then pitching, and last defense.
The Cardinals rank 3rd in the MLB and 1st in the N.L. in Def. Runs Saved with 22 , according the Field Bible.
In Outs Above Average, the Cardinals top two players are V Scott and N. Arenado.
Ask any starting pitcher , when the guys behind him play excellent defense it makes them (the pitcher ) look so much more effective.
The Earned Run Average of the pitcher sure looks a lot better when the infielders are making diving stops on hard hit grounders and the outfielders are taking away doubles in the gap with running diving catches too. The Cardinals have done very well at both . Arenado, Winn, Donovan are pretty slick fielders and Contreras has done well at a new position. Of course , Vic Scott roaming CF has made a difference in several games this year.
Noot and a very improved Walker have done a nice job at the corner spots . Pages frames pitches well and feedback from pitchers say he calls a good game behind the plate.
