Here I thought Oli had gooten abetter pair of eyes or smarter, leaving Fedde in to complete game, but then he turns around and pulls Mikalaus after only 69 pitches, 5 hits, no BB, 8 K--why? Leave him in until trouble.
ps surprised King did all right

I didn’t see Mikolas arguing to stay in. Unfortunately you can’t count on him for a lot.

Re: marmol
Ok. Now that you brought it up.
What was MM's velocity when taken out?
What input did the catcher have when asked?
When asked how did MM say he felt?
Your thinking is one thing wrong with today's game. Pitch count is the answer to everything. There's actuay a lot more to it, and we all know that zmM doesn't gradually get into trouble. When he crashes its usually a BIG inning for the opposition.
Re: marmol
Bottom line. They didn't win the "right way." Larussa did this a lot and was rightfully chastised for it. Whitey always won the right way.

Re: marmol
Oil gets on my nerves with his Burleson obsession and when it seems like his hesitance to deviate from a plan like Contreras hitting second, but I have to say that I have not found too much to complain about him in the last two years. Really in his first year the only really bad thing I remember was the playoffs. That was really, really bad. And the year after that was pretty awful. But I think he handled the BP well last year and this year. I know we had some implosions, but he has to work with what he's given.
And to the OP, I like what he did. No need to really push it with Mikolas. Matz has been very good in his role.We had a fresh bullpen.

Are you confusing him with Joel/Shady/KY Kid, et all?Ronnie Dobbs wrote: ↑11 May 2025 18:44 pm Oil gets on my nerves with his Burleson obsession and when it seems like his hesitance to deviate from a plan like Contreras hitting second, but I have to say that I have not found too much to complain about him in the last two years. Re: marmol
It’s apparent that he didn’t trust Mikolas to go much deeper into games. He pulled that same shenanigans vs. Lynn last season, which infuriated me, and probably Lynn at times

Re: marmol
I’m not an oli fan but I think he managed it well today. They got 5 1/3 1 run ball from him the lead was 2-1 they had a well rested bull pen I have no problem with them going to matz and maton there no way he should have gambled that MM would continue to pitch well he could blow a 2-1 very easily. If they had scored those runs earlier and had a 6-1 lead he would have left him in but it would have been dumb to gamble with the lead when you have a well rested bullpen. He did a good job on this one
Re: marmol
Yeah that loss is on Oli
