Don't know why you put Skinner in there as you reeled off 6 straight with Pickard.
Pickard out. Skinner in net for Oilers.

Yeah, I thought only cup pretenders did that.DawgDad wrote: ↑11 May 2025 10:28 amWe'll see what they do next. yeah, there's no way you play Skinner over a healthy Pickard.. just goes to show ya how good we have it here in net. Old, injured, sick man Pietrangelo 3rd on the team in points with limited PP time. One of only 4 Knights that is a +
They need to help him.
Go Oil

One would think, but they haven't addressed goalie there since rollie the goalie. So I'm thinking they don't see an issue there. I mean I agree with u, just not sure the oilers mgmt see it that way. Re: Pickard out. Skinner in net for Oilers.
Been studying on the winning goal…. We’ve seen this happen frequently- a bang bang play through the crease that will pass clean through, but a defender pokes it into his own net inadvertently.
It’s a lot like a chest high fastball. Your conscious mind tells you it’s unhittable- it’s so hard to get around on a heater up high. But your unconscious urge is to pound it into next week.it looks like a balloon until you whiff on it.
It’s similar in this instance. Draisaitl can see it’s not going in, but his unconscious mind takes zero chances.
There is also the very real chance that if you let it pass through it could find the stick of an opponent and result in an assist.
Sports are a wonderful interplay within the human mind. Usually the unconscious is right and should be trusted. In some cases… it needs to shut up.

It's interesting because to me Colorado is in the same boat. They signed Blackwood before he had his first career playoff game. He doesn't look good.Cardsfanforlife wrote: ↑11 May 2025 13:10 pmOne would think, but they haven't addressed goalie there since rollie the goalie. So I'm thinking they don't see an issue there. Colorado has basically made it an organizational philosophy to go cheap in goal. Varlamov was their last internally developed #1. Since they let him leave as a UFA…TAFKAP wrote: ↑11 May 2025 13:58 pmIt's interesting because to me Colorado is in the same boat. They signed Blackwood before he had his first career playoff game. Grubauer - 3.3M (let him go as UFA)
Kuemper - 3.5M (won Cup then let him go as UFA)
Georgiev - 3.4M (traded away because he was bad)
Blackwood - 5.25M
This is all low end money for a #1.

It’s a general philosophy around the league lately. Goaltending is obviously important, but not thought of the way it once was to an extent.bluetunehead wrote: ↑11 May 2025 15:39 pmColorado has basically made it an organizational philosophy to go cheap in goal. Re: Pickard out. Skinner in net for Oilers.
They just announced pickard is also out for game 4. If skinner shts the bed again and pickard is out long term, would they be desperate enough to start olivier rodriguez or collin delia(yes he still exists evidently)
Re: Pickard out. Skinner in net for Oilers.
No they wouldn’t.
And skinner was decent last night. Made some big saves. Oilers were bad.
Re: Pickard out. Skinner in net for Oilers.
All od those goals were stoppable. The first goal was especially brutal. Pilers had 2-0 lead and all the momentum and he drops puck and falls over to allow empty net shot . He gave vegas life when they had none.
2nd goal was no doubt terrible defense but he certainly could have played better and gave up massive 5 hole.
2rd goal was weak. I know people will say it was onetimer but it was passed to a guy literally standing next to him requiring no movement from skinner and ouck went right through his arn.
He made a coupme great saves in the 3rd period but that doesnt mean he didnt give up a horrendous 1st goal and fail to save other goals.
Vegas expected goals were 2.31. Oilers didnt generate a ton of offensive chances but those werent grade a high damger scoring chances vegas scored on.
Skinner is 0-3 on a team thats gone 6-0 in front of career minornleaguer calvin pickard who has hardly stood on his head. Pickard has had better stats the last 2 seasons than skinner. Pickard isnt a stud. Skinners just bad. Stats and advance stats agree.
Of the goals, the 3th goal was least on skinner cuz he challenged shooter to impossible angle that wouldnt have gone in if drai didnt touch it. But 1st period still happened and that 1st goal still counts. And it completely changed game.
Re: Pickard out. Skinner in net for Oilers.
The oilers were awful in that game. They all said it. I think skinner was fine. You didn’t … that’s okWattage wrote: ↑11 May 2025 18:35 pmAll od those goals were stoppable.
