Where can people follow these prospects on the internet? in order to watch these guys and see them develop, where can you follow them?

Here are two I like--

Pekarcik is in the QMJHL finals today. He's gonna be an NHL player IMO.
Looks like a player to me. Great at every level. Lots of Swagger.
Hes 6'2 200lbs. 19 yrs old. Time to thicken up. Loaded with talent.

Pekarcik's hockey sense is legitimate. He can see when a play is closed and when he needs to switch to a new lane or a different option and he does that at quite a high pace. He's also involved away from the puck, and he understands attacking layers, that it's better for the offence if players aren't clogged but taking more space on the ice. He drives inside, passes quickly, and can dangle through sticks. -EliteProspects

Another third rounder from 23--
Quinton Burns had a nice year. He's 20. So we will see him in the AHL.
Looks like a legit prospect with some size and grit.

ELITE PROSPECTS--Quinton Burns is proven capable of handling long minutes and tough defensive assignments. His strength and balance will enable him to box out opponents from the front of the net and his mobility to neutralize passing lanes and deny space. Burns has all of the advanced transition ideas, he spins off checks, attacks the inside, looks cross-ice for options, and even manipulates incoming pressure


Lindstein Dvorsky and Stenberg are works in progress. My excitement has waned some. Still excited about. Not sure any will be top line guys.
Mrsic--amazing numbers--small guy. Small guys do seem to have a place in NHL. (Maybe not on Blues)
Lots of others to keep an eye on. Kaskimaki is ok--kind of middling.

Big fan of Pekarcik. High hockey sense and playmaking ability. Ok shot. Backchecks hard. Projects as a good 3LW IMO…which is somewhat of a problem as we already have Holloway and Neighbours at LW…and Buchy and Bolduc who are probably better on the left side but will play the right side bc that’s what we need…and then also Stenberg, Kaskimaki, Stancl etc. And if Dvorsky doesn’t stick at C he’d be a LW too.

But agree Pekarcik is good and one to keep an eye on. I’d bet it’s his team, Moncton, and the London Knights that battle it out in the final of the Memorial Cup in a month or so. Both teams are absolute juggernauts.

Why has your excitement waned on our 3 2023 1st rounders?

I was wondering about the progress of Stancil. I know he probably projects to be a bottom six guy, just wondering where he was at progress wise. He seemed to have a lot of grit in his game when I saw him in the juniors tournament.

In my opinion, if you swapped Stancl and Pekarcik on their junior teams we would all be talking about Stancl. I don't really think I can overemphasize how bad Stancl's team was. I maybe missed four or five of his games from December onward including all of his WJC games. This came in handy watching him play for Springfield because the Springfield streams are so blurry you can't really make out the numbers. However if you watch players enough you don't need the numbers you know who it is by how they skate. That's how it is with Stancl. His team started the year with Tij Iginla, Andrew Cristall and Caden Price on it. Iginla missed the season with injury, Cristall was traded to Spokane and is scoring at absurd likely historic rates for them. I mean he has a four point game almost every game it seems. Price was also traded and then they lost their other two good players. Their coach simply left the team one morning in early January. I watched Kelowna lose 10-0, 11-1, and basically be trounced every game, or choke away two goal leads literally every time and choke and lose. They lost 24 of 26 to close the season. There's no hockey flow in games like these. He had no supporting players, and hockey is a team sport. They were subsumed.

My big question on Stancl was whether his skating had been worked on enough, that is is only real issue. So I counted down til late March when he could join Springfield and I could answer that question of how his skating measures in the pros. I feel very happy about what I saw with Springfield. You can see how much the confidence Snuggy is getting benefits him? Stancl was flying with confidence coming off the WJC and was dominant for most of January before the accumulating losses overwhelmed the team. What this tells me is that we're waiting for Stancl to hit a confidence bursting bit of play in the AHL. That's going to happen at some point next year. We'll realize Stancl is on a heater down in Springfield and looking GREAT. Because when he is rolling as a player, it is shift after shift after shift of difference making play. It is a higher, better, more confident level than I have ever reached with Pekarcik.

Stancl is dangerous offensively when he is on. He dominated his peer group under pressure on the world stage. He could have had twice the points he did in the WJC, it was incredible to watch that. IF this player did a skating leap, a David Backes like improvement in his skating, he could be a highly regarded NHL player, a top line player.

If you mean, watch their games, their seasons are all just about over now (except Pekarcik and McIsaac). But for now, I’d say to get the Victory+ app. It has all of the WHL playoff games on it. There’s also steaming services for all 3 CHL leagues. A “sketchy” option would be a site like onhockey.tv or nhl66. You can steam just about any game there but make sure you have a good popup blocker. You can watch Euro games that way too - like Lindstein in the SHL (he’ll be in N.A. starting next season though). The World Championships are on right now so that’s something you could watch during the day if you needed more hockey lol.

If all you’re looking for is snippets though, then just go to YouTube and enter the name of whatever player you’re curious about and there’s bound to be a few highlight packages available. But of course, highlights are exactly that. The good parts of their game packaged without any plays showing their warts. Or google their names and you’ll find scouting reports. I for one much prefer to watch the players myself than just read someone else’s opinion but I like to watch Jr, college and Euro hockey and I know many others just don’t have the time or desire for that.

Seattle was pretty bad this year but he was still their leading scorer, and Captain, at age 17. Did he just not have any linemates to work with? He looked like a different player once he had actual talent around him at the U18s. He’s someone I’m going to have to watch more of but as of now, I’d be happy with him at 19.

Cootes is a player.And a leader. Like you said, all that at age 17. Very projectable.

But the reply to that is Stancl would not have been a great 19th overall pick,
With Cootes it's more an instinctive feeling of "we can do better here"
If they do pick him at 19 then I will get to watch him closely a lot, so it's in my interest.

Dvorsky on the world stage and Desnoyers in Moncton are so good that I question how much of what he's showing is simply being around them and their center ice vision. Will he only be able to be successful on a scoring line? For me is an open question still.

That's kind of what I'm getting at, I don't know if he'll be good down the lineup because I have unclear evidence and when I saw him at WJC without Dvorsky I wasn't overly impressed. He needed Dvo to be successful on that team. However he isn't always on a line with Desnoyers and has been a factor without him. So I'm not saying no, I'm just saying I am not as confident as you are.

I see where you're coming from. I'm just not ready to penalize him for who he's played with. Hopefully the skill around him has elevated his game and made him a better player for the future. Only time will tell, but he does have skill. Regardless, I see potential, but your point is legit.

While I share your enthusiasm for Stancl and his growth this season, I don’t view him quite as highly. I see someone that looks like a likely future 3LW. Just don’t see the 1st line potential you see…but would be thrilled to be wrong.

I value Pekarcik a bit higher…but it’s really close. I think Pekarcik’s hockey sense and playmaking in particular are better. But Stancl is better at some of the intangibles that make for a good bottom-6 winger…which is where I think both project so maybe that does give Stancl the edge after all. Idk. Both should be in Springfield next season so we should have a better idea then.

sounds like Springfield is gonna be packed next year. do they finally jettison the MacMac's and Peca's..etc?
