But yes with the lines below retool is over and as vetrans leave they will be replaced with youth from our system. This team is ready to compete

I'm just not comfortable at all that we have the d in the system to fill in as the veterans fall off. Which is why I think any major assets being moved should be to address that.

Now of course there are other indirect less likely paths like you could trade Kyrou for a young C and trade Dvorsky for d etc.
This is a fair assessment. The Blues have a lot of D prospects that look to have the potential of being solid NHL d-men…but they’re lacking in top-end quality. Lindstein, Jiricek and Fischer are looking like potential top-4 guys to me. Ralph and Burns look like potential 3rd pairing guys to me. Koromyslov is a wildcard. Likely also a 3rd pairing guy if he ever comes over.

Buchinger is a former 2nd rounder but I just don’t see it with him. He’d be a slightly undersized, sheltered offensive 3rd pairing d-man if he ever made it. Loof is mean but doesn’t really have any standout qualities otherwise. McIsaac might be a sleeper. He has one more year of Jrs left (plays for Spokane and they begin their series vs Medicine Hat for the WHL Championship tonight). Mayich…likely won’t be signed. The Blues have until June 1st to sign him or they lose his rights. My guess is if they were going to they would’ve done so by now. They haven’t.

But what the Blues do have is a lot of these guys. And a lot of forward prospects as well. And a lot of assets on the NHL team too. Army has a ton of assets to work with. What he needs to pull off is a couple trades that brings in a difference maker or two. I’d say one at C and one at D, ideally on the right side…while also simultaneously unloading some dead weight. Pretty much like how he sold some futures (Thompson and an 1st) and dead weight (Bergy and Sobotka) for ROR. We need him to do that again.
. . . just not for ROR again, please!
Well no, of course not. Not unless they find a way to reincarnate the 2018 version of him.

2024 ROR would be a major upgrade for the Blues at center ice....Probably enough to get by the Jets and be playing in the 2nd round right now.

You’re right. He’s human. He talks about the biggest regret of his looooong career.
He never said he would do it differently….but hang on to whatever you want to believe if it makes you feel better.
You can regret something but still not do things differently.
Might be tough for some to understand.

Saying something is the biggest regret of a long and HOF career?

It’s easy

DA would have done it exactly the same way if given the chance.
He regrets it didn’t work out. Sometimes things just don’t work out.
Glad you understand.

we have fischer jircerik lindstein ralph who will be here shortly 2 years or so. We dont trade kyrou him and holloway are amazing together. Dvorsky is your future 2c. Just stay the path. no shortcuts
Gonna probably be a pretty big gap if you do that and its likely it never works.
