The Cardinals effectively have three catchers in the starting lineup (counting Contreras) a fourth one on the bench and three more are among their top seven prospects. I think it’s safe to say they are unnecessarily overloaded at the position.

Which do you trade. Can you get a power hitting outfielder. A #2 starter.

if Herrera continues to hit the way he did in a small sample to start the season does this team have 2 better RH hitters than Contreras and Herrera? In a perfect world Herrera would have the defensive skills to have him play C --- but since he doesn't who on this roster is a better option at DH? I just don't see the problem.cardiological wrote: ↑09 May 2025 17:04 pm The Cardinals effectively have three catchers in the starting lineup (counting Contreras) a fourth one on the bench and three more are among their top seven prospects. Our modern day Branch Rickey…..a certain lock for Cooperstown….wondered what he was going to do when Yadi retired….How was he to know he had 5 catchers soon to be ready for major league duty in HIS OWN ORGANIZATION……so he went out and gave 18mil/yr to a poor D some bat Cubbie catcher who played around 110 games a season…..and then moved him to 1b…..Certainly without ANY ability to see out further than the next hour……MO had no idea he’d need SP or a legit bat in the OF with that money……cardiological wrote: ↑09 May 2025 17:04 pm The Cardinals effectively have three catchers in the starting lineup (counting Contreras) a fourth one on the bench and three more are among their top seven prospects. Considering it seems like Herrera’s future at catcher is still completely up in the air and none of the other catchers were/are sure things, the Contreras deal was still a good deal at the time and now. At this point Contreras is one of the best 1B in the league defensively by defensive ratings and his bat is heating up.Goldfan wrote: ↑09 May 2025 17:24 pmOur modern day Branch Rickey…..a certain lock for Cooperstown….wondered what he was going to do when Yadi retired….How was he to know he had 5 catchers soon to be ready for major league duty in HIS OWN ORGANIZATION……so he went out and gave 18mil/yr to a poor D some bat Cubbie catcher who played around 110 games a season…..and then moved him to 1b…..Certainly without ANY ability to see out further than the next hour……MO had no idea he’d need SP or a legit bat in the OF with that money……cardiological wrote: ↑09 May 2025 17:04 pm The Cardinals effectively have three catchers in the starting lineup (counting Contreras) a fourth one on the bench and three more are among their top seven prospects. No. MLB controls the streaming of the "radio" broadcast. KMOX will be broadcasting some else over streaming. The game will be over the air.
