At the trade deadline the Cards are a couple of games out in the division. Arenado is playing great. Helsley is saving games. Other vets are performing. The trade market is hot.
Do you sell? We know they won’t buy.
What would we do

If they’re only several games out in the division, why sell?

Make as many trades as possible. Build up the system with good, young players. Focus on getting starting pitching, a third or first baseman, relievers and an outfielder with some pop in his bat. I wouldn’t shy away from trades simply because the team might compete this year. We want to get to where the Cards are dominant every year. You get to that point by building from within and if you can bring in good, young studs, you do it.

Team can’t go all young. Need some good veterans sprinkled in to teach kids the ropes of MLB.
