The Re-Whatever is OVER - Doug Army

Post by a smell of green grass »

Per Doug Armstrong, the Retool is over. What a surprise, eh? I would have guessed that it was just starting to get good. The 3 guys (Dvorsky, Stenberg, Lindstein) associated with the Re-Whatever are still 5000 miles from the NHL, but Doug is sure that the punch line has been delivered.

Image

Could it be that he wants it to be over so that he doesn't have to answer questions about it? Hmmm. Hmmm. WHY WOULD THAT BE?

In unrelated news, there is a report of a missing man. The Blues long-term 2C has not been in his bed for years, and no one has any idea where he is. Evidently the 2C wasn't in the scope of now-finished RETOOL.

Is there anyone out there reading this (other than DA) that believes the RETOOL is over?

I think Jamie Rivers discussed the need for a #2. Center. That would move Schenn down if he still stays. But then Sunny is signed for another year and. Faska makes to much? It would be the SWT line with Sunny replacing Faska

Is Faulk with less minutes ok? IDK but a real good RH D sounds helpful

I do have a serious question! Why does it seem like you hate Army so much? If you wait a year you won't have to post about him no more. As he will be replaced by Steen. Should you start your posts about Steen now to get a jump on the forum?

Armstrong is quite keen on holding the players accountable. He will be very happy to talk about leashes, and how they have to earn a spot, etc. However when it comes to himself, he bullys the fans into just sitting back and watching him skate. I have a real problem with bosses like that. Where is the 2c, Mr Army? Are you drafting better players than other GMs?

Accountability starts at the TOP, not the BOTTOM!!! The players won't play at their best, if roster spots are weak. Where is the 2c, Mr Army? Are you drafting better players than other GMs?

The notion that the team wouldn't have a hole(2C) to work on and improve every offseason is naive. There will be an area for improvement every offseason, as there should be.

why are you so over dramatic, all you do is criticize. you must live a super pathetic life that all you can do is be negative. The blues got the following last year the solidfied the retool.
fowler broberg tucker holloway bolduc and snuggerud. Dvorsky will make team out of camp. the net wave of stenberg lindstein stancel pekrick ralph fischer will be in next 2 years.

That is pretty much a complete roster turnaround. all we really need is a 2c which dvorsky will be in next year or two.

the only fire going on is the dumpster fire we call a smell of green grass

so just shut the eff up bro

I think that my sickness has evolved from outside exposure. I talk to people in other hockey towns, and they seem to always get over-the-top happy when they talk about their prospects. They don't even monitor their guys, and then all of a sudden the news reports come in CONSTANTLY about how great they are. Meanwhile, I hear very very little in St Louis about our prospects. Then Doug Army tells me that the retool is over.

I've got a bad case of Prospect-envy. I'm not happy being in this state either.

What now? Pretty sure the Blues have plenty of prospects that are decently known to the "hockey community" as being solid NHLer potential.

Didn't the Blues just have the most representation at the world juniors this year? I don't get this take at all, the issue is there are so many potential NHL prospects that would have been it's own end of year presser is what I think you meant.

Yeah, I don’t get it either. Our prospect pool is currently chock full of quality prospects. Probably the 2nd best group I can think of in modern times (for a brief handful of months in the summer/fall of 2010, Petro was still a prospect and we had just drafted Tarasenko and Schwartz).

Regarding the World Juniors, yeah, the Blues prospects dominated that this year. Here are the leading scorers:
https://www.eliteprospects.com/league/ ... 2024-2025

5 of the top 19 are Blues prospects. There’s 32 teams in the league. The average team would maybe have 1 of the top 19-20 guys. The Blues had 5. What more could you want??! And then Jiricek and Lindstein were a little lower on the list but they’re defensemen so not remotely concerning that a bunch of forwards scored more than them.

goblin goo is an idiot. IT literally complains about a GM who has brought the city it's first Stanley Cup, a top 5 team over the last 10 years in the west, we have the most prospects that have promise at 1 time in blues history. IT can't comprehend that there are multiple ways to acquire prospects. When you bring up players like Holloway and Broberg IT deflects. The Blues are one of the best drafting organizations in the league. The salary cap has the Blues as one of the best equipped playoff teams moving forward. Everything that a GM is supposed to do, Army is doing. He has set the team up for a ton of success moving forward.

Army's number 1 goal was to leave the org better than he found it. He is well on that path to do it. The only thing Army has to do in the next 2 seasons before Steener is the number 1 is make sure that we find ways to extend Holloway, Broberg, Neighbours. If he finds us a number 2C this offseason the man is doing a phenomenal job.

The question you have to ask yourself. If you were top 10 all time in the job you did, which is only held by the top 1 percent who enter that field, would you be rated as bad at your job?
